Holly stood frozen, tears streaming down her face, her entire body shaking.
The classroom had gone deathly silent. Every student stared at the scene before them, some with shock, others with the hungry curiosity of spectators at a car crash.
Ryan's words echoed in my ears. w***e. Pathetic. Used-up nothing.
Something inside me shattered.
Before I even realized what I was doing, my hand connected with Ryan's face. The slap rang out like a gunshot, snapping his head to the side.
He covered his cheek, staring at me with pure disbelief.
I slapped him again.
