Nerina carefully looked at Richard’s sword and watched as it seemed to sparkle in the sunlight.
“It’s a beauty, aint it?” He asked her.
Nerina nodded, admiring the designs.
“I stole it.” Richard said with a grin.
“From where?” She asked.
“Some man who didn’t deserve to carry a sword this magnificent around.”
Nerina smiled. “Can you teach me how to use it?”
Richard opened his mouth to respond but was interrupted by the Captains snort. “You? You’re a girl.”
Nerina scowled. “So what?”
“Girls cannot use swords.”
Nerina continued to scowl. “I can too. I bet you that I can be a better pirate than all of your men on this ship.”
Both Richard and the Captain started to laugh.
Nerina put her hand on her hip. “Stop laughing!”
They didn’t.
“Well then, teach me how to be a pirate!” Nerina said.
They continued to laugh. “You are a crazy girl.” Richard said.
“Well, you two must be afraid that I’m right.”
“No, we just think you are quite insane.” The Captain responded. “Because you can be nothing close to a better pirate than even the worst one on this ship.”
“If that’s the case, then you two would have no problem in proving me wrong!”
The Captain looked at her. “What do you mean?”
“Teach me how to be a pirate. Prove to me that I’m not good!”
Richard suddenly realized something.
“You really are insane.” The Captain said.
Suddenly, Richard grabbed the Captains arm and pulled him away from the Princess and she watched them curiously.
“Think about this, Ed.” Richard said softly.
The Captain raised his eyebrow. “About what?”
“If we teach her how to be a pirate…. We can make her wear trousers.”
The Captain hesitated. “So?”
Richard rolled his eyes. “Imaging that girl in trousers!”
Both he and the Captain turned and looked at her, both of them imagining her in trousers. Without the boots, it would be just below her knees, exposing a lot of her legs.
“And the white shirt…” Richard said. “Which is see-through when it’s wet.”
The captain didn’t even need to imagine that. “Alright, let’s do it.” He said as he walked back to Nerina. “Alright, we’ll teach you.” He said.
Nerina’s face brightened. “Wonderful!” She said.
“But first,” the captain started, “You need to change.”
“Why?” Nerina asked.
“Do you think you can be a pirate in that?” He pointed at her long dress.
Nerina looked down and then back up, her cheeks slightly red. “Oh.”
“Why is she taking so long?” The Captain asked, getting quiet frustrated with the very long wait.
“Well, it is definitely worth the wait.” Richard responded with a grin.
A moment later, Nerina opened her door.
As expected, the trousers were right below her knees. She stood there, awkwardly holding onto the pants, clearly not looking comfortable.
But then the Captain and Richard looked disappointed.
“Are you wearing a corset?” Richard asked.
Nerina’s cheeks turned red. “Of course I’m wearing my corset! Do you want me to look sloppy?”
The Captain sighed and got up. “Have fun, Richard.” He said. He knew that he was not going to be as satisfied as he liked.
Richard scoffed. “Me?” He got up. “I can’t teach a girl how to be a pirate!” He then turned around and walked down the hall. “Besides, I promised to help Sam with something.”
The Captain rolled his eyes. “Well, I’m not teaching you anything.” He said to Nerina as he turned around and walked in the opposite direction of Richard.
Nerina fumed. “You two are so…” She then chased after the Captain. “You said you would teach me!” She yelled.
The Captain simply frowned and continued to walk.
“You really like to do that, don’t you?” Nerina yelled. “Get my hopes up and then disappoint me!”
The Captain, who suddenly felt a little bad, stopped walking and turned around.
Nerina, who hadn’t expected that, bumped into the Captains hard body.
The shock had made her let go of the trousers that she was holding, and it quickly began to slip down her thin legs.
Nerina shrieked and grabbed the waistline before to could reveal anymore of her underwear, and quickly looked up at the Captain, praying that he hadn’t seen that.
But the Captain did, and though Nerina was embarrassed, she couldn’t help but notice how dazzling that amused smile looked on his face.
He then surprised her by reaching out, grabbing the waistline and pulling her towards him.
Nerina half expected him to kiss her, but strangely to her disappointment, he didn’t. Instead, he began to tuck in her shirt, as Nerina held back a gasp each time he touched her waist, and then he took a string that Nerina had not noticed and pulled it. The trousers tightened around her waist and the captain tied a knot.
“That,” he said, “is how you put on trousers.”
Nerina, cheeks blazing, nodded. “T-thank you.” She said.
He was still smiling as he turned around and began to walk towards the deck. “Go put on your slippers and meet me on the deck.” He said.
Nerina hesitated. “Are you going to teach me?”
“Yes.” The Captain said. “But I should let you know that after I teach you, you owe me.”
Nerina smiled. “Okay!” She said, without even thinking. She then turned around and rushed back to her room to put on her slippers and then rushed back out to catch up to the captain.
When she climbed onto the deck, she saw the captain looking out at the ocean. “I’m ready!” Nerina said.
He turned around and smiled at her. “Alright.” He said as he began to walk over to the side of the ship. “We’ll start off with something simple.”
Nerina nodded eagerly.
“One of the simplest tasks you can do on this ship…” He pulled a mop out and handed it to Nerina.
Nerina’s eyes widened.
“And since you’re a pampered little princess, it’s safe to assume that you’ve never done this before.”
“This is not what I—”
“You have to start from the basics.” The Captain said. “Then you get to be a real pirate.”
Nerina frowned angrily and threw the mop on the floor. “I am not doing this!”
“Fine.” Captain Edward said. “Then you will not be a pirate.”
Nerina scoffed. “You’re mocking me!”
“No. I’m not. Ask any pirate on this ship. This is exactly how they started.” The Captain said with a smirk as he walked away.
Nerina stomped her feet angrily and began to walk away. But then she stopped, wondering if he was serious.
After a moment of debating, she picked up the mop and began her first act as a pirate… swabbing the deck.
