Chapter Twenty Three
My nightmares were getting so out of hand that I started taking Valium to knock myself out, but it made me groggy and irritable as a result. In work, I skated by under the radar for a couple more days but eventually the inevitable happened and I was summoned to a meeting with the board of directors.
As they handed out a file to the attendees, and I sat patiently waiting for them to begin, it was simply a matter of reading aloud the litany of offenses for a consensus to appear. Everything I was charged with had taken place, but it stung to hear it read aloud without context.
