Chapter 2: The Henchmen Don't Show

850 Words
"We are now Arriving in Berlin, Germany," The flight attendant's voice echoed throughout the plane announcing our arrival. "It is now nine o'clock pm. We hope you have enjoyed your travel with LOT Polish Airlines." The plane came to a stop, but my hands would not loosen their death grip on the chair's arms. I knew I had to, but the thought of walking off this plane was too overbearing. The only thing running through my head was my father's instructions. He told me before I left. "Once off the plane, two men will be waiting for you. From there on, follow their instructions." I took a deep breath and told myself everything would be perfectly fine. I was not going to freak out. I was safe. I would see my family again and spend time with them. I was going to fall helplessly in love with Laiden and he, with me. I mean, that is how it is supposed to workout, right? I would hope so. "Miss, are you alright?" An attendant asked looking concerned. "Yes, thank you," I smiled and stood up from my chair. "Is this your first time flying?" She asked politely. "No," I laughed and left the plane. As soon as I walked off I was expecting to see a sign in bold letters saying "Olesia Aksan", but none was apparent. So, I decided to sit and wait, and wait, and wait. Did I mention I waited for a while? I was sitting there for a long time and then a man came up to me.    "Excuse me, miss?" The man said to me. He looked about six feet tall, gorgeously built, and had the most beautiful blue eyes. His hair was a God's glory blonde, and it seemed so soft I wanted to touch it. He was breathtaking and every girl's wet dream. "Yes?" I replied. "Were you the last off the plane?" He asked. "Yes," I smiled politely at him. "Oh," He looked down in disappointment. "I am so sorry," I felt horrible having to be the one to break the news to him. "I am guessing you were expecting someone?" "Yes," He replied. "I was waiting for my fiance." ...I should have guessed. "You can't be engaged? You look so young!" I was surprised. He looked young. "How old are you?" "Twenty," He smiled at me. He had a wonderful smile. "And you are getting married?" I asked. "I am not so sure I am getting married anymore," He laughed. "Why?" "How am I supposed to marry her when she is not even here?" "Good point," I said. "So why are you sitting here?" He asked. "I am actually waiting for two men to find me," I laughed at the way it sounded. "Two men? Impressive," He commented, looking slightly impressed. "No," I blushed. "Not like that." "Brothers? Cousins?" "More like," I thought for a bit. "Henchmen." "Henchmen?" He looked at me curiously. "Are you running with the German mob?" "Of course," I played along. "But you can not tell anyone, or else I would have to kill you." "Really?" He asked. "You must be high ranking." "Actually," I whispered. "I am the Polish mistress." He laughed and we stared at each other for a while, both of us not knowing what to say. "You have the most beautiful green eyes," He said so softly and barely audible. He almost looked like he was in a trance. "What?" I asked not sure if he really did comment on my eyes. "Umm..." He seemed to have snapped out of the trance. "It was great meeting you, but I must go." "Bye," I smiled at him. He turned to leave, but stopped suddenly and turned, "I didn't even catch your name." "Ola," I gave him my family nickname. It was short for Olesia. "I hope life works out for you Miss Ola," He said, taking off before I got his name. I still sat there waiting, only this time I was alone. Whoever is going to marry him is a lucky girl. If only I would be as lucky with Laiden. I begin to fantasize Laiden being the man. Us walking together on the beaches in Italy during summer, sipping champagne in Florence, and later at Rome for a formal dinner. The next day we would fly back to Germany, and take a train to Berlin. Where we could marvel at the countryside, and once there we would look at famous buildings and go shopping. I was fantasizing our romantic getaways. "Miss," Two big burly men approached. "Are you, Olesia Aksan?" "Yes," I replied relieved. "We have found her," One of the men said into a walkie talkie. "Where have you been?" The other asked. "Right here," I laughed and leapt up. "Let's go," They started leading the way. "When do I meet Laiden?" I asked, trying to keep up with them. "Not until tomorrow." "Tomorrow?" I was stunned. "Why not tonight?" "Mr. Heinrich Ulbrecht wants you to look your best," They replied. I opened my mouth to reply in some sassy way, but closed it not knowing what to say without sounding like a spoiled brat. "You will be staying in a hotel tonight," They mentioned. "Mr. Ulbrecht thought you would be more comfortable there." I didn't refuse the offer, because I knew I would feel much better in a hotel than staying at some random home.
