Chapter Two

889 Words
Three years ago "I disagree!" The teacher looks at me shocked. Not because he has never heard someone disagree, but because he is used to silence in this particular class. Everyone sits there with their necks bared, looking down, because of the oppressive aura radiating off the alpha's son. Every omega sitting in this class is so afraid of him that the advanced literature discussions that I was so looking forward to will not ever be a thing. I give Logan Silver an angry stare. He looks back and his eyes seem curious , which somehow makes me even more mad. Why does he have to be here? This is not one of the classes you have to go to as someone who will not only stay in this pack but even rule it. Did he come here by choice just to intimidate all of the students that are as interested in human literature as I am and who I was looking forward to becoming friends with just to show us all his dominance?! "Romeo and Juliet is NOT a book that shows, humans long for fated love just as much as we do. To the contrary, it is about choosing whom you love despite of your fate!", I basically shout. Before the teacher can answer, Logan snorts. It takes all of my willpower to not jump in his face. He is just as arrogant as I pictured him to be before meeting him. "They chose to love each other?!", he asks, "I bet both of them would have been a lot happier falling in love with someone they could have been with instead of having to poison themselves to stay together in death!" I pout. "I've never said they chose to fall in love. Neither humans nor shifters can do that. But they chose to stay in love. Humans do not have mates and they can survive a break-up way easier than we can. Their love was revolutionary and that was what they both wanted. Something that was different than what their parents wanted for them: they wanted a choice!" I look him directly in the eyes. "I can understand that as someone who gets dictated what to do and who to be by people like you every day!" The bell rings and everyone runs out. They don't want to get involved. The teacher looks puzzled, he has never heard Logan nor me speak in his class before and now we seem to be fighting. An omega against an alpha, something you don't hear about every day. I have no chance, clearly, but I'm too mad to be afraid. "Can you go, please?", Logan asks the teacher calmly. He immediately starts to pack his stuff and leaves, not without giving me a sympathetic last look. This was probably the most interesting lesson in a while for him. "You can't give the teacher orders like that!" He chuckles. "I asked him nicely. What is your problem with me? We have never talked before, have we?" I snort. "As if someone like you would talk to an omega like me. And the teacher clearly took it as an order as would everybody else!" "You wouldn't, would you? You're too revolutionary..." "You can make fun of me all you want. I would never ignore a direct order, but it is not my duty to jump at your every question!" He chuckles again. "So you do agree that it was not an order but a question you can ignore..." I blush and start to gather my school stuff. If I stay here any longer, I will scream at him...or probably worse. And he has every right to give it back to me one million times worse. He sighs. "Look, I'm not making fun of you. Well...I'm teasing you a little, but just because I find your behaviour to be so interesting considering you're an omega orphan." I stop in my tracks. "How do you know I'm an orphan?" Now he blushes. "I have read your articles in the school paper discussing human romance novels. You've mentioned it quite a few times." I'm baffled. "I'm using a pseudonym." "Yeah, well, we don't have that many orphans who take advanced human literature courses in this pack." I'm turning white as a sheet. "Wait...are you saying...you checked out my personal info and everyone else's in this class? What are you, a stalker?" He shifts in his seat, visibly uncomfortable. "I just wanted to meet you to have a discussion with you. I find your takes on books I really like irritating but...original. I thought, having discussions in this setting would be less intimidating but this whole class turned out to be a big snore fest... nobody talks." Is he that clueless? Nobody talks because of him and nothing is more intimidating than having your future alpha sitting next to you when you are an omega. For some reason, him worrying about that but doing the exact opposite to change it makes me chuckle. All my anger is gone. He looks at me like he can sense my shift towards him. He blushes again. "D...Do you wanna go out to grab some coffe to talk about Romeo and Juliet sometimes?" I laugh. "Yeah, but only if you stay away from this class from now on!"
