Chapter 81

1202 Words

Elias’s POV Things were getting out of hand, and it was annoying as f**k. I’d never felt so useless in my life. We couldn’t hurt Jerome. We couldn’t even breathe in peace because he was out there, somewhere in the house, and we didn’t know who he was talking to or what he was planning. Every time I thought about it, my fists clenched and my jaw tightened. I wanted to punch something, to break something, to do anything except sit here and wait. Dad left today with my stepmother, even though she didn’t want to go. I could see it in her eyes, the way she clung to Raven before she left, whispering promises to come back soon. Dad said he had to find a way to break the bond, that he needed to talk to people who knew more than we did. I wanted to believe him, but I didn’t trust anyone anymore.
