CHAPTER 2: I found her!

Damion’s POV

“Oh brother, I’m telling you she’s the cutest creature you’ll ever lay your eyes upon. She’s new and so everyone kept trying to be near her, but I got to her and I’m glad I did. I introduced her to our warriors and they loved her as well. She has something about herself that’s so comforting. And her scent… it’s just so natural and so pure. I wanted to sit with her right there all day.” My younger brother was blabbering about some new chick he saw in the school. I had been out all day, overseeing the monthly budget for the royal pack and of course searching one more city to find my future mate. Pack business was such a headache sometimes, therefore I desperately needed a Luna who’d help me sort this out, my rightful mate whom I can cherish forever.

Since I turned old enough to rule, I have been handling the mantle of King. The werewolves of our realm look up to me and I provide them protection against other hostile species that demand our extinction. But like any other King, I lack my queen; my mate whom I can cherish until the end of times. So, after searching every nook and corner of the werewolf realm, I came to Earth to find my true mate. I have been travelling ever since and momentarily come to stop at our ancestral property where we have the academy that trains our younger generation until they’re ready to take up their positions in our own realm. We also accommodate heirs of rich humans and that is how we are able to manage the academy budget. The humans are unaware of our existence and we plan to keep it that way. There are separate classes for werewolves, witches and humans and the best facility for each group. My younger brother is still training. Technically he is my step brother but we share the same father and hence the royal blood.

“If I ever had to take a chosen mate, I would definitely choose her brother. I am telling you she is the epitome of cuteness and purity. No other she-wolf can compare to her in my eyes. When you’ll see her, you will know. I am content of it.” Drew said.

“I will see her if I wake up on time, baby brother. But if you plan to keep me up all night, I won’t even be able to make it to the common addressing I am going to do in front of the students.” I chuckled.

“You have truly become boring while handling issues of the kingdom. Even if you meet your mate now, she will probably get bored faster than you could introduce yourself. Believe me brother, you should give up the king’s job. I am sure I can do that pretty well in your place.” Drew said.

We laughed heartily at his comment and soon after a few more minutes of chatting and exchanging pleasantries, we bid farewell for the night. I walked to my balcony which provided a clear view of the scenery the mountain gave us. It also allowed the view to a larger part of the school. Since my brother started talking, my wolf ‘Elijah’ became so restless. I thought about it and my wolf was convinced that this girl was our mate. But it cannot be. That girl is a human. No werewolf ever had a human mate. Humans are weak and the moon goddess knows better than to put one in the hands of a werewolf. In all honesty, we are violent creatures. It would be just too much for a human to enter our world. I came to Earth because there is an abundance of witches here. Maybe one of them was my mate. In any case, the royal council cannot compel me to take a chosen mate for myself. My parents used to respect the tradition and so do I. People in my realm have started to mark their chosen mates on their necks. But I won’t fall for the council men's tricks to marry me to their own daughters. I will find my mate and I will show them that there is only one female worthy of the Luna queen’s title.

I have gone through a lot. So much that has happened after the assassination of my mom and dad. The witches who participated in the assassination have not yet been caught. They used to be my parents’ close friends, and the way they turned on them was just cruel. I don’t hate witches but many from my kingdom do now. They cannot see that not everyone of them is the same. But I will prove it to them. I was sure my Luna would be a witch, and now I am going to find her and put my mark on her and make her mine forever. Just the thought of my future mate has made me painfully hard. I need a release and preferably a cold shower.

But since it is already so late, I prefer to sleep so as to wake up early in the morning to oversee the morning warriors’ practice. I walked back in my room and closed my curtains. As soon as I close my eyes, the thoughts of the human girl start swimming in my brain and at last, sleep takes me under its spells.

I wake up to a loud banging on my door. I open my mind link and my gamma (my third in command) is yelling at me to wake up since it is half an hour late already for the morning practice. I groggily wake up and open the door.

“Sometimes it is so difficult to remember if you are my boss or I am yours.” I manage to say, still half sleepy.

“Well, as your childhood best friend, I hold a power over you. It is kind of an emotional power. So, yes. Get your lazy ass up and get ready to catch up on the morning practice already. If the princess gets ready fast, we might be able to catch a glimpse of those sexy warriors already.” In all honesty, my gamma was a gay, which he realised one day when we were changing in the gym’s locker room one day in college. But he assured me he won’t make me feel uncomfortable unless I want it, which I don’t want in my whole lifetime, so yes.

“I AM NOT A PRINCESS CALEB. And get out of my room, I will be ready in 15 minutes at max.” I shoved him out of the room and closed the door. I took a quick cold shower, because yes, I had a very painful morning wood. I have been having such dreams a lot, lately. Elijah was sure it was our mate calling out to us and which means that she has come of age. This brings us joy but it also means she has come of age to search for potential love interests. This anger both me and my wolf to the point that we need a cool down, preferably some useful sparring with Caleb. He can be an asshole sometimes but he also is the only person in our realm who can handle my punches and block them most of the time. I turn off the shower and grab a V neck t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants. I quickly dress up and meet Caleb downstairs. We have our own suite here at the academy that provides accommodations for any royal staying here for the time being. We take off for the training grounds and I start feeling more and more antsy by the time we get closer to the grounds. I pick up my pace and before I realise, I am already running because god knows what. I just have this feeling that I will die if I don’t get there on time. I hear Caleb shouting something to me while running behind me, but naturally a gamma cannot run faster than an alpha. I ignore him and her smell hits me before I see her.

Cherry blossoms with the hint of sweet wild mountain honey. I come to a halt, my eyes meet hers and everything stops. She is the most perfect being I have ever seen in my lifetime. Elijah is running in my head and wagging his tail like a puppy. My mate has deep blue eyes which match her midnight black hair and pale skin. Her nose is red from the cold and her cheeks have a red tinge almost as if she was blushing. With a curvaceous body beneath her clothes, she is wearing a knitted sweater and tight joggers which excite my wolf more than required. Out of nowhere, she suddenly pulls some locks behind her ears as if conscious of my presence and I notice her wearing gloves. It takes me sometime to figure out that my mate is a human because she smells like one.

A horror envelops me and my veins freeze. Suddenly, all the hopes I had of finding my mate crush in front of me and I stand numbed. In the meantime, Caleb rushes up to me and starts blabbering something in the words of ‘scared’, ‘so fast’ and ‘madness’. I turn around to go back to the room. I cannot face my beautiful mate until I have sorted out the doubts I had in my mind about this situation. My wolf had little to no self-control and the matters of his mate, I am sure he would not cooperate. I had only walked a few steps when the sound of crashing stone alerted me. Even worse, the sound came from the direction of where my beautiful mate was standing a few moments ago. I felt a heart crushing pain at that thought and my wolf suddenly overpowers my consciousness which has not happened since I turned 18. He pushes me in the back of our mind and darkness overpowers me. I am no longer in charge of my own body and cannot control anything that is happening around me.
