[Derek’s POV]
“Are you out of your mind?” I growled, enraged by his suggestion. “She is a human, and you know to claim her now means—”
“I know,” Nikolai interrupted me, but his deferential tone didn’t make me angry for his audacity.
“I know what it entails and how one must carry forward when a human happens to be our fated one, but… this situation calls for it. Claiming her would mean that you also channel some of your strength and energy into her blood, which will allow her to survive this.”
The words made my stomach twist uneasily. I felt sick. It wasn’t that I wouldn’t do anything for her at this point; it was just that this kind of claiming would make her feel confused about the aftereffects.
“What about the after effects?” I asked, getting closer to Nadia’s side.
