Chapter 2

Y I opened my eyes when I felt my cheek getting pinched. I saw Simon looking at me while tilting his small head. I laughed and put my hand on my forehead. I was about to rise, but I stopped when I felt the soft cloth on my body. The side of my lips tugged up. So, they knew that I was here and they didn’t try to wake me up. Instead, they just put a blanket on me.  I continued lying on the sand and looking at the gray sky. I think it is already afternoon, 2 in the afternoon. The sun is not in the middle, nor about to fall. It’s a complicated reading clock in the sun’s location in the sky.    I sighed and tried to recall what happened after I fell asleep. I ran away and cried. I became weak and fell asleep. Why am I always like this?    Just like always, the sea was calm and peaceful. But I should not be deceived by its peacefulness. Sometimes, nature can be more wicked than humans.  When Simon crowed, I turned my gaze to him and stood up. I picked him up and petted him like a dog.  "Have you already eaten yet, Simon?" I told him. He crow as an answer,"... I think it’s a no." I guessed. "Let’s go and get something to eat!" I also picked up the blanket and slightly stared at it. Do we own this kind of blanket? It’s quite familiar but I never saw it in the house. My gaze went to the sea and the strong wind passed by. There is no one here except for me and the three. It is also a private place, so I think no one will dare trespass.    I shrugged my shoulders and walked away. A smile plastered on my lips while carrying Simon and walking until I reached the house. As expected, I caught Sir. Ram was waiting for me outside the house. His expression says he was relieved when he saw me coming. However, he quickly entered the house and acted like nothing.  I smiled even more, Sir. Ram is always like this. He acts like he doesn’t care, but he is the type of person who cares the most. He is like a father to me. To be honest, I never saw my father when Sir. Ram took me away from my mother. My father happened to die at that time and all he left was the will of testament. It contains the legal terms of all his money and company will be transferred to me. I can say that my father really loved me, because before he died, he had already rest assured my future.  And also, the one letter he left for me. I haven’t opened it yet. Ram said, it is an explanation of why I ended up with my mother. The letter was in the safety chest and I didn’t have any strength to read it nor absorb it. Also, it says I will be able to read that letter if I find the love of my life.  But I think I won’t be able to read that letter. Maybe I will grow up and die without knowing my father’s reasons. Because in my situation, I don’t think I am capable of loving someone or... being loved.    "Y!" I was startled when I heard Brother Jack's voice. "I am so worried about you! Did I offend you or something? Tell me! "He grabbed my shoulders and squeezed me.    Simon and I felt our world spinning.  "Brother Jack," I said.    "— tell me! How can I make it up to you? Did I say something wrong? I’m so sorry! " He cried and hugged me tight.    My eyes fell on Simon. I am scared I might crush him.    Simon crowed.    "Brother Jack... Simon might be crushed—"  "I’m sorry!" He let go of me and stood straight. "I promise I will never mention girls, okay?"    I put Simon down first and let him go around the house before I faced Brother Jack. His eyes were full of guilt.  I smile at him and massage my nape. "Let’s just forget what happened, Brother Jack. I am at fault too. I know you are clueless about me, even though we were together in the past years. Sorry. " I said. I saw his eyes water as he lowered his gaze.    "You know, you can talk to me whenever you feel something, in pain or lost." Then he looked at me in the eyes and said, "I told you treat me like your brother, right? So feel free to express what you feel. I will never judge you. "  I nodded my head, "Thank you, brother." I said.    After we talked, I hurriedly went upstairs and laid on my bed. This is bad. I just woke up and now I am feeling sleepy again. I crumbled my hair. I am not even hungry! What kind of stomach is it? Am I still a human?!  Sighed.    Minutes have passed and I am still looking at the ceiling of my room. I don’t know what to do now. There is no internet here and I didn’t bring any gadgets when I came. Only Sir. Ram has access because he needs it to take care of some business.    When I got bored staring at my ceiling, I stood up and went downstairs. I didn’t see anybody in the living room, so I assumed they were doing their own work, probably, Sir. Ram in the library, Brother Jack taking care of the place with Mang Semion.    I get myself to the kitchen and make my own food. I know how to take care of myself, because I have been an independent man since I was a kid.  When night came, I waited for them to fall asleep before I left my room and sneaked out. I went outside to breathe the fresh air and watched the sea falling in love with the moon. I put my hands in my pockets and walked on the sand without sleepers. The tiny sands tickled my feet and made me chuckle softly. This is what I really like when night comes. The tranquility of the sea comforted me and the sound of the gentle wind touched my heart. It felt like they were telling me that the peacefulness I felt was just for me only.    I was startled when I heard a crow.  "Simon!" I uttered nervously. "You startled me. How did you come here? " I asked, as if he would answer me.  Then again, he just tilted his head while looking at me. I laughed when I found it so cute.    "Do you want to take a walk with me, Simon?" I asked. "Should I carry you or just let you walk?" He opened his wings and struggled, so I decided to put him down and let him walk. Besides, when I started to take a step, Simon really followed me. I can’t help but smile. It looks like he can understand me and he wants to understand me more.  I sighed and looked at the bright moon kissing the sea. “It’s good to be here, Simon. I felt peace. I feel not alone and the comfort that nature gave me was I really love. I have always longed for this but... now I feel... I am not satisfied at all."    I looked at Simon again and he was still walking beside me. He was taking a big yet slow step and I did slow my walk for him.    "What do you think, Simon?" I rested my hand beside my chest, where my heart was located. "Something is missing, right? What could it be? In fact, I think I already have everything. I can buy what I want and I am rich... But still... there is a small piece of me that is missing. " I stared at Simon for a moment before I shook my head and laughed at my craziness.    Why would I talk to a chicken who doesn’t understand me? Why would I ask a chicken who will never answer? I must be crazy. Maybe because I have no friends, I only have Sir. Ram in the city, and I have no dorm-mates, so I have no chance to talk about what I feel.    " Let’s go back to Si— " I got a chill when I heard a loud sound of wood bumping to something. "What was that?" I muttered. I started at the place where I heard the sound. It was just full of big rocks and, from what I remember, there were a lot of crabs there.  I don’t believe in ghosts, but... is it possible?    I shook my head and slapped my cheeks. I should not be afraid and see what happens there. I took a step towards the place carefully so that I wouldn’t make a sound. However, the sand is so soft that it won’t make a noise when you step on it.    Or, should I try to speak? If there was a person behind those rocks, I would know if he replied. But if there is no one, then there is no problem!  Am I a genius? Well, I guess I am.    "Uh, hello? Is anyone there? " I said half should. "Hello—" I heard the same sound again: a wood bumping onto a rock.    I took a few more steps, but no one was answering, so I decided to climb on the other rock a little to take a peek. And to my surprise, I saw a single boat bumping onto the rock because of the small waves. My forehead creased. There’s a stranded boat here.    I tried to climb again, but unfortunately, my feet slipped. I groaned when I felt the pain in my right foot. I hope it’s not bleeding, though. I turned my gaze to the boat again and decided to approach it. I am not that scared of whatever is in that boat. To be precise, I don’t feel anything except curiosity. What is this boat doing in a private place?  When I passed the rock, I slowly took a few steps and tried to expand my neck like a giraffe, but I am not a giraffe, I am just exaggerating.    I started and stepped backwards when the boat moved and a foot came out, resting at the edge of the boat. There is someone in the boat? Could it be a person sleeping? I presume it is not a dead body because I saw it move! I gripped my chest and took a heavy breath. That gave me a little heart attack. Slowly, I took another step until I reached the boat and my eyes grew bigger because of what I saw. There is a man sleeping inside with diamonds all over him. The light from the moon reflects on the diamonds, causing them to shine alluringly.    But then, I felt terrified. What is this man doing here with a lot of diamonds on him? Is he a thief or perhaps a... murderer?    My knees got weaker, which is why my butt felt on the sand with a small number of little rocks. I smiled wryly. Oh sh*t  "Yabai..."
