Lyroan Kingdom

2014 Words
I couldn’t move from my seat, like someone glued my ass down the chair. It’s been almost an hour since the elders left but I can’t seem to find the strength to move a muscle. Even a tiny movement from my body is almost impossible. I feel rigid. My wolf is just as confused as I am. Suddenly all these responsibilities are dumped on me, and I’m supposed to carry all of them behind my back. It’s not fair. Mom came back with Dad trailing her steps. They’re always like that when no one’s around, it’s Mom who leads, and Dad happily follows her like an obedient pup, but when they’re in public, they walk hand in hand. He cherishes Mom as his equal. “Sweetie.” She coaxes, holding my hand on hers. “Mom, I haven’t even met my mate yet.” I lied. It’s my only way of escape. “I know, and we understand. If it was up to us we’d let you be until you find him, we’ve always been supportive of your decisions.” She tucks the hair on my face behind my ear neatly. “I hate the idea of rushing you for an heir, you’re still our baby.” Dad patted my back. I feel like hiding under his warm hugs, I want to cry but I shouldn’t. They need me to be strong. “Worse comes to worst. I have to be marked by someone I don’t like.” Saying that sends shivers down my spine. A worried look washes over Mom’s face. “I’ll try talking to the council again. Don’t worry.” Dad pulls us to a hug, somehow it alleviates the stress I have. I spent my entire afternoon training with my bow and arrow. I’ve mastered shooting since I was 5, but I still need to practice to not lose my touch. My wolf is strong, I have a sharp canine that can cut through flesh easily, but I have to master a weapon to fight in human form. Being a princess I guess I can’t do any of these anymore. Every time I hit a target I move on to the next without batting an eye, I always hit my mark. I never miss. Before I could shoot the last paper, the air around me changed, I shifted the arrow and pointed it slightly to my left. “Come out or I will shoot.” I warn. A figure emerges from the trees, Caius’ face suddenly came to view. “I was on my way home when I saw you.” He walks up to me with a small smile on his face, his hands in his pockets as always. “Amoux changed his mind?” I ask myself. I’m surprised they let him walk out with his head still attached to his body. “Thanks to you.” He nods my way. I smile in response. “I guess you’re going back to Deacon’s house now?” I looked up to meet his gaze. He ignored my question, instead he pulled the sword from my sheath. “You don’t look like someone who wields a sword.” He inspects the handle of it. Shifting the sword from one hand to another. “I’m more of a bow and arrow kind of person.” I answer. That got a smile from him. “I notice.” He swiftly moves around with my sword in hand. He looks majestic, like he’s dancing with my sword as his partner. They look perfect together. “I never knew vampires are skilled swordsmen.” “We don’t need swords, our strength and abilities are enough to easily kill enemies.” He stops to examine my sword once more. “It’s made of enchanted diamond and dragon bones.” I say, his eyes sparkled like a thousand stars at night. “I’ve never seen anything like it before.” His smile genuinely reflects what he feels. “You can keep it if you want.” I shrugged, thinking he’d be happier, but he was taken aback, and looked at me with a confused face. “This sword is extremely rare, and you’re giving it to me?” He asks. I nodded in response. “Why not?” I ask back. “I’m a vampire.” He answers plainly like I didn’t know he’s a vampire. I rolled my eyes, sighing. “It’s not customized for girls, that sword is heavy as hell. I had to carry that around since I was 17.” I thought I'd finally convinced him to take the sword, but his face slumps to an even more confused look. “A thank you will do.” I wink at him, he suddenly gets on one knee and takes my hand on his. “Thank you.” He says, showing his pearly white teeth in a beautiful smile, and kisses my hand. I felt my cheeks growing hot, as I nod stiffly. Vampires are stupid, weird, and awfully sweet. I’ve been rolling around my bed, restless. I can’t find peace, and sleep requires peace. Caius left with the sword, after a long conversation. He finally accepted. Boldly thanking me in the sweetest way possible, before I could say anything I heard Amoux call my name. When I turned back Caius already left. I sat down, resting my head on the headboard. I can feel my wolf’s heart beat thumping loud, although my own heartbeat is calm and steady. She feels something I don’t. I stood up and wore a robe around my body, I’m wearing undergarments beneath it. I’m not used to sleeping with clothes on. My room overlooks the river outside camp. I could see it flowing beautifully under the moonlight. The pine trees swayed along the cold wind, I removed my hair tie and let my hair naturally flow on my shoulder. I can easily be spotted amongst the crowd. My white hair has a unique color that none of the other she-wolves has. I think it’s bothersome and too bright. I sighed to myself, they expect me to mate in this condition. I look ordinary and weird. I don’t want to disappoint my parents any more than I already have. My wolf wants to come out, so I let her peek through my eyes, she stares directly up at the moon, holding a hand out to it. She needs the moon, I can feel her powers slowly draining. My wolf isn’t feeling okay, and I hope nothing bad happens. The morning after we had to travel to the Lyroan Castle, where Dad will take his oath as the new King of Lycans. After a formal ceremony at the castle, we’re heading out to the woods to witness his wolf change to a Lycan. Only royal bloods can turn into a Lycan, and since his brother is no longer in the picture, Dad is the sole heir to the throne. The moon will bestow him with the power of the Kings. It’s a long ride, with the whole pack following us behind. The scouts and hunters are in their wolf form, searching ahead for any danger that may come, while the normal wolves are in human form in cars. I am in a limousine with Mom, Dad, and Chris. Amoux and Scout Leader Trevor are outside in wolf form, along with the hunters. The car stops in front of the castle. I've forgotten what it looks like, but it’s glorious. I can’t imagine a place more luxurious than this. The place stands in the middle of the woods, with an open ceiling so the moon can peak directly down the accentuated floors. The walls are covered with diamonds and gems that resemble constellations. Moon goddess Luna stands proudly in the middle of everything. She has a great spot for when the moonlight peaks in at night. The butlers bow down to us, before leading my parents to a room. The wolves waited outside in a formation, so if there’s an attack they can protect the place securely and efficiently. Amoux nodded in my direction when our eyes met. “You must be Princess Celeste.” A girl curtsies in front of me, before plastering a smile on her face. “What gave it away?” I ask. Just as planned, she turned red. “Well-uh, your hair Princess.” She answers shyly. “I was teasing.” I smile at her. She scratches the back of her head, confused. “Please follow me.” She motions to the left wing of the castle. I took a mental note where my parents walked in before following her. After a long walk, she stops in front of a wooden door. She opens it, and offers for me to take a look inside. I cautiously step in, taking all the information in my head slowly. The room is bigger than mine at home, there’s a bed big enough for 3 people to fit in, and a small chandelier hangs from the ceiling of it. “This is your room, Princess.” She says, opening another door. Inside, a walk in closet with a complete set of clothes and dresses for me to try on came to view. I warily opened the drawers, jewelries suddenly flashing in my face, tons of them. I’ve never seen anything this fancy before in my life. “Your tiara is under the council’s care for the moment, but it’s already here in the castle for your coronation later.” I c****d a brow at her, my tiara? “I wasn’t aware that I had a tiara.” She chuckles lightly. “You’re a princess. As the first born of the future King, and by law, you’ll be in possession of the most sacred tiara made from the tears of the moon of the Goddess Luna. It’s been in the family since the Great War.” She declares with so much adoration. I could only nod, unable to comprehend all at once. Another responsibility. I have to take good care of that tiara for sure. “The council members are already here for the King’s oath taking, vampires are rumored to attend too. For royal purposes.” Her eyes shift to avoid my gaze. I guess she heard about the incident. “Will you be having your lunch in the great hall, princess?” She asks to change the subject. I shook my head, smiling a little. “I’m still full. Thank you. I’d like to see my parents now please.” “I believe that can’t be arranged, I was instructed to keep you busy until the ceremony.” She fidgets on her dress. I can sense her fear. “What can I possibly be busy with?” I ask myself, sighing. I guess I have to stay here for the rest of the afternoon. I told her to leave me alone until I finally have to prepare for the ceremony. My mind is still in chaos, and my wolf’s heart is still thumping loud in my chest. All I ask for is a minute of peace, but even being alone I can’t put my mind at ease. I plopped down the soft bed, with the thought of Deacon running through my head. Why am I thinking of Deacon? I doubt if he’s still thinking of me, no- he must be writhing in anger because of the money he wasted to buy me. We spent one night together and that’s all he got from spending 7 billion. We didn’t even do much, we just cuddled. I miss his soft touches, the warmth he gives my heart, and that sweet smile on his lips. I’d give everything to see him again. I shook my head free from every thought of him. My wolf is whimpering quietly somewhere far. I could feel her longing too. I guess I have to live without seeing his face again, and this is just a minor crush my wolf has to get over with.
