Curious Vampire

The night came, and so did the master everyone’s referring to. The door opened with his face coming to view. He looks bored. Every step he takes towards me, I step back. Until he has me cornered on a wall. He breathes me in, with a straight face. “You smell so good, little pup.” He whispers. I turned to the other direction, away from his gaze, I could hear my heartbeat thumping loud. My wolf has her guards up as much as I do, but I can’t do anything about it. I don’t feel any strength, I feel weak on my knees whenever he’s close. “You'll bow down on your own. Soon.” He seethes, before walking out of the room. I was able to breathe properly when he was out of earshot. Days have passed since I last saw him, I don’t think I’ve ever felt more weak. This is dangerous. I can’t feel my wolf anymore. I can’t get up from the bed, or move a muscle. The night came, and he finally showed up. “She’s burning up!” I heard the same captivating voice from the other night. I shuffled on my bed, trying to find the source of that voice. I felt a cold hand on my forehead. “Celeste, can you hear me?” His voice sounds so close, I feel like if I reach out I can touch his face. “Find someone who can help! f**k!” He yells. “The moon.” I utter, but I doubt if he can understand me. I feel him carry me in his arms, I can smell an amazing scent radiating off of him. “I didn’t buy you so you could die on me.” That got a chuckle from me. “You invested in... a dying pup.” I whisper. He was almost sprinting, I can feel the cold air on my face, he’s rushing to get me moonlight. I woke up with a pair of arms around me. I don’t remember ever feeling this comfortable, is it the bed? It's softer, the lights are dimmer, and the place is much colder, but the warmth the hug is giving me makes it bearable to exist. When I turned to my side the same inviting face greeted me. He looks so comfortable sleeping. If I didn’t know he’s a vampire I would think he’s a very beautiful human, though he’s not breathing. I tried pulling away, but his grip tightened. “Stop moving.” He says through gritted teeth. “This is a very awkward position to be in.” I whisper, but he doesn’t respond. He laid still, is that how vampires sleep? “Vampires are weird.” I mutter under my breath. “I could say the same thing about you werewolves.” He retorts without opening his eyes. “Okay so that you heard?” I c****d a brow at him even though he wouldn’t see. “You werewolves can’t survive without the moon.” “Well you vampires can’t survive under the sun.” I shot back. I have this unusual pull towards him, I feel comfortable talking to this guy even though we only met a couple of days ago. “You’re cheerful. I guess I can have my fill now.” He opens his eyes, they were deep glowing red staring back into mine. He’s stronger than me, he was on top within seconds. “Stop resisting.” He whispers to my ear. I’m barely putting up a fight, I’m still weak because of the wolf’s bane on my neck. “Please don’t.” I closed my eyes shut, and turned my face away from his. “Why not?” I hear his voice close to my ear. “If you do that I’ll never find my mate.” I lied. I think I already found him. “Your mate?” He sits down, pulling me to his lap. I resisted but again, he’s stronger than me. “Tell me about your mate.” He looks at me, attentively waiting for my answer. I cleared my throat, avoiding his gaze. “I haven’t met him yet.” I shyly respond. His grasp on my waist tightened. “I’ve never heard of an unmated 22 year old pup before. What’s so special about you?” He gently pulls my face in his direction. “I’m not special. I just haven’t found the right person yet.” Another lie. I can feel my face growing hot. “They say werewolves get stronger when they meet their mate, am I right?” He c***s a brow. “It’s more complicated than that.” “How so?” I furrowed my eyebrows. “Why are you curious about how we mate?” He shrugs. “I already said I’ve never met an unmated werewolf before. Answer my question.” His face turns serious. He’s really eager to learn, huh? “Before a werewolf turns 18, the moon gives them another werewolf to spend eternity with. Like a gravitational pull, they fall in love in an instant, and they can never be separated. It’s never one without the other. If a mated werewolf spends a long time without their mate, they get weaker, and eventually die. Same goes if the mate dies, the other one won’t survive.” He nods. “And what’s that got to do with being stronger?” He asks. “The moon bestows mated werewolves abilities they never had before. It’s like being whole and complete.” “So that’s why you’re so weak.” He snickers. “I’m not weak.” I shot him a look. “I’m an alpha. I have strength no other werewolves possess. Wolf’s bane is lethal to us, and your friends made sure to use extra to keep me captive.” A guilty look washes over his face. He should know, he also infused the lace he tied around my neck. “Why won’t you let me bite your neck?” He changes the subject, looking at my neck like a snack. I had to cover it with my hand. “Uh, well. That’s where my mate will mark me when I meet him.” Again, shyly looking away from him. “How sure are you that you’re going to leave this place again?” He furrowed his eyebrows. There isn’t any hint of anger in his voice, or any arrogance, just pure curiosity. “Because I will, and I’ll make sure to kill each and everyone of you who separated me from my pack.” I answer. “So if I bite your neck, I become your mate?” He asked again, disregarding what I said. “No. I’ll die.” I bluffed. He’s a vampire, I don’t know what my wolf’s reaction would be if he bites my neck, speaking of wolves. I can feel her again. She’s slowly gathering up her strength so we could fight our way out of here. “What are you doing?” He asks. I didn’t realize I was feeling my heart. I have 2 heartbeats inside me. One for my body, and one for my wolf’s. Together, we are one. They beat together in perfect harmony. “My wolf.” I replied. He suddenly places a hand on top of my chest. “Hey!” I spat, but he shoves my hand away. I awkwardly sat there while his hand was on my chest. “I remember the feeling of having a heartbeat.” He suddenly said, I was taken aback. He used to have a heartbeat? I thought vampires are dead through and through. He blinks away the thoughts in his head, before pulling me back to his lap. He also pulls my head to his shoulder. “Rest now little pup. You had a long day.” He says. His commands sound like tiny pleas in my ears, they make me shiver under his touch. This guy is my gravitational pull I’m scared to walk towards. I woke up without him. His hugs are like drugs on my system I can’t get enough of, and not feeling his skin on mine, makes me feel irritated. Something is seriously wrong with me. The door from the left opens, Deacon comes in with just a towel wrapped around his waist. I felt my face grow hot. I want to avoid looking at him, but my wolf seems to be enjoying the view. Her heart is beating louder than mine. I can’t think straight. “You’re staring too much.” He chuckles. I think this is the first time I see him smile. My own heart thumps loud this time. “I-uh.” I tried avoiding his gaze, looking outside the balcony instead. His perfectly packed muscles are still burning on my mind. He’s not too buffed nor thin, he's a perfect gym built. Though tall enough to hover over me. “I have a meeting to attend tonight. Will you be okay alone?” He disappears somewhere in the walk in closet. When he steps out, he’s wearing a suit and tie, he looks even manly with a threatening aura. “You have bad spirits around you.” He looks at me confused. “What are you talking about?” He c***s a brow. “Mom was a priestess before she met my Dad. She would always say I have bad spirits around me when I’m mad. She could sense bad spirits that make people unapproachable. She makes mine go away.” He sits down on the bed, looking straight at me. “Make the bad spirits go away.” He says. My eyes widened, I quickly shook my head. “You wouldn’t want me to do what my Mom does, also I’m not a pries-“ “Do it.” He sternly said this time. I scurried in front of him, warily taking steps close. When I’m finally arms reach, I stop. “Close your eyes.” He reluctantly looks at me. “I won’t kill you. You gave me wolf’s bane remember?” “All the more reason not to trust you.” He shot back. I narrowed my eyes at him, he sighs exasperatedly. “Fine.” He finally closes his eyes. Wait, is he actually trusting me? I could honestly try and kill him right now. He’s always so eager to learn it makes him vulnerable. “You have a very beautiful name.” He mumbles, with his eyes still closed. I can feel my face growing hot because of what he said. Should I really do what my Mom does when I’m mad? I shouldn’t even have mentioned it. I have to learn how to keep my mouth shut, I’ll get in trouble if I don’t. I cupped his face on my hand, and rubbed my thumb on his soft skin. Leaning close to kiss his forehead. “Everything is going to be okay.” I whisper. He suddenly pulls me to his lap, he rests his head against mine, and breathes in deep. “I don’t want to go. I want to lock myself here with you.” I can feel his exhaustion. Like his feelings are one with mine. I reach up to his head to pat him. “It’s okay. I’ll be here when you get back.” I smile at him. “I think this is the first time I’ve seen you smile.” A smile forms on his lips too. “I like it. Very much.” He adds.
