Eric shook his head . "I don't want anything. I saved him because that's what my profession demands. Thanks." A stunned silence fell over the crowd. Mr. Zed began to speak but then stopped. But Eric stopped him. "I won’t accept anything. that not what i am made of " Gasps of disbelief rippled through the onlookers. Murmurs spread among them. "What?! Did he just refuse a big gift from The most powerful man in the city?" "Unbelievable! He's rejecting wealth beyond imagination!". Jason clenched his fists, his face twisted with rage. That should have been him! He had wanted this opportunity—to bask in the glory, to win favor with Mr. Zed and get such an offer. Yet Eric Is refusing it?. Eric turned to leave, but something made him pause. He glanced back at Mr. Zed, his gaze sharp and knowing. "You’re having trouble breathing, aren't you? You also feel a persistent pain under your stomach." Mr. Zed's eyes widened. He stiffened, his bodyguards exchanging nervous glances. Eric continued, his voice calm yet firm. "You are suffering from Crysopeptic Syndrome. It’s rare, often misdiagnosed. The usual treatments won’t work, but there’s a solution. You need Lycoris leaves and Seraphim roots mixed into a tonic. It will heal you faster than any modern medicine." A hush fell over the crowd. The guards froze in place. Even Jason looked dumbfounded. Mr. Zed’s jaw dropped slightly. "How... how do you know that? No doctor has been able to diagnose me accurately, let alone provide a solution." Eric gave a small, knowing smile. "You should get those ingredients soon. It will save you a lot of pain." With that, he turned and walked away. Mr. Zed remained frozen for a moment, processing what had just happened. Then, his sharp gaze snapped toward one of his personal bodyguards. "Blade." A man in a black suit with a stoic expression stepped forward. "Yes, my lord." Mr. Zed ordered. "I want a full background check on him. Everything. Who he is, where he comes from, and why the hell a demoted doctor knows more than the best specialists in the country." Blade nodded. "Consider it done." Eric arrived home and as he stepped into his room, the rich aroma of home-cooked food filled the air. A small smile touched his lips as he spotted his mother, Stephanie, setting the dinner table. Without a word, he walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders in a gentle hug. "Mmm… the best cook in the world," he murmured. Stephanie scoffed playfully and turned to face him, her hands on her hips. "You should be telling your wife that!". Eric’s mood faltered for a brief moment, but he quickly composed himself, forcing a grin. "No lady's cooking can compare to yours, Mom." She rolled her eyes and nudged him toward the table. "Enough of that sweet talk. Sit down." As Eric took his seat, Stephanie placed a steaming dish in front of him, then sat across from him with an expectant look. "So… when’s the wedding date? You should have proposed to Lydia by now." Eric stiffened for a split second, but he quickly masked a forced smile. Concealing Lydia’s betrayal, he replied, "Why the rush, Mom? Soon." Stephanie nodded approvingly. "Better be soon, because that girl is a good one. And you are not getting any younger." Eric merely stared at his plate, momentarily lost in thought. His mind wandered to his future, to the life he had envisioned with Lydia, and how everything crumbled. Stephanie’s voice brought him back. "Alright, enough talk. Let’s eat!". ×××××× The next day, Eric returned to the hospital. As he stepped inside, one of the staff members who had always disliked him approached with a smirk. "Uhn, what are you wearing?" she sneered, shoving a folded uniform at him. "This is your new attire—as a caretaker. I found one that fits you perfectly. It’s almost like it was made just for you!". Eric knew she was mocking him but chose to ignore her. She continued with a smug tone. "Well, you will be assigned your first patient as a caretaker. This will be your trial to see if you are fit for the job. If you fail to satisfy the patient, you won’t have a job at all." Eric frowned. If he failed, it meant further demotion—perhaps to security duty or even getting sacked. He knew he had to get this right to secure his job. Just then, Collins entered and grinned as he saw Eric. "Yeah. Our hotshot caretaker is here! A position that really suits you." Eric ignored him, his focus unwavering. Collins then turned to the staff member. "Who is his first patient for evaluation?". The staff smirked. "Ms. Cellinina." Collins burst into laughter, and soon, everyone around them joined in. The reason was that Ms. Cellinina was infamous for being one of the most difficult patients in the hospital. She was stubborn, ill-tempered, also, some stupid act, and had already driven away three doctors that very day. Eric clenched his jaw as he overheard the whispers around him. “Eric is definitely leaving this hospital!”. “He can never make it”. It was clear that this assignment had been intentionally given to him. If he failed, it would not only humiliate him but also cost him his job. Collins smirked and patted Eric's shoulder mockingly. "Take good care of her, will you?”. Ignoring him, Eric stood firm and requested the patient’s file and ward details. The staff handed them over, still wearing a smirk of amusement. "Good luck," Collins said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Without another word, Eric turned and made his way toward Ms. Cellinina’s ward. Getting into the ward, there were three patients there. He looked around and asked for Ms. Cellinina. "Here!". A woman raised her hand, her voice smooth yet laced with impatience. Eric turned toward the voice, and for a moment, he froze. Sitting on the hospital bed was a woman, that as soon as he saw her, he immediately gulped. Even in the hospital uniform, Her breasts were visibly full, round, and firm. She was perfectly shaped with a tempting curve. Her body was so perfect, with a slim waist, wide hips, and long legs. He gulped.
