Chapter3

I drive into Forte Woods High school. Riri directs me to where to park my princess. I come down, and my backpack, then join Riri on the other side.

The building looks like that of the Royal academies we see in movies. It looks like the kind of building that has a story behind it, or even secrets buried under it. Don't mind me, I am being dramatic again. Haha

Together, we walk into the building.

I opted for a simple look today, just like I do every other day. I wear a black skinny jeans, and a baggy long sleeve shirt with sleeves rolled up accompanied by an all Star sneakers I had bought earlier this year. My hair is in a messy bun and that is all about my look.

Riri, surprisingly, is a really girly girl, despite her obsession with going on runs she has a black plaid flare skirt that falls above her knees, a brown crop top and ankle-high boots. She lets her hair down. She looks beautiful, and I appreciate her color combination.

When it comes to fashion, I am versatile, and can pull anything. I could be in a dress today with complete makeup, and in baggy pants and top the next. The only thing I'm consistent with is my skincare routine. I love me a glowing skin.

The inside looks like every other high school with a hallway filled with students lurking around.

I look around, and see people casting curious glances my way.

“Why are they looking at me like that?” I say, so that only Riri could hear.

She laughs lightly. “You're the new girl, of course they will look at you.”

“ I should have put more effort into my appearance.” I say, feeling conscious.

“You look gorgeous. We just don't get many transfer students here, especially those who come in the middle of the section.” She clarifies.

I agree with her. “Fair enough.”

“I believe your schedule is ready. Come, I will take you to the Dean's office to get it” she offers, and I oblige.

“That is the way to the principal's office.” She shows me.

I get curious. “Have you ever been called in for breaking the rules?”

“Once or twice, but Ray is a regular,” She says.

She sees that I look confused, so she clarifies “Ray is my boyfriend, Raymond.”

Oh!

“Sounded like Rey, my name.” I comment.

My Rey is the one with the letter e while his has the letter a.

“Same thing I said when I found out he's my mate” she provides

I am more confuse .“ is he Australian?”

“No.why do you ask?” She asks.

“Well, you referred to him as mate, that is mostly an Australian thing. “ I tell her.

Her face looks a little bit alert.

“We refer to our partners as mates most of the time. It's like an inside joke that even I don't know where it originated from.” She explains.

Ok.

I nod.

We arrive at a double door, and she pushes it open. We walk in and to a table that looks like a secretary's. I'm guessing this is the Dean's secretary.

“Good morning, Miss Green.” Riri chirps.

Miss Green replies, “Good morning, Doris. What brings you here?”

“This is Reyna Jones. She transferred here 2 days back” Riri introduces me.

“Welcome dear.” Miss Green says.

“Thanks, Miss Green.” I reply.

“Call me Lydia, Doris just wouldn't listen to me. Here, the Dean left it for you.” She says, handing me my schedule.

I receive it. “Thank you.”

“If you need anything, don't hesitate to come to me.” She offers.

I smile, “ I will keep that in mind.”

“See you around, Miss Green.” Riri says, as we begin to walk out.

“ It's Lydia, and you never pay me visits.” She complains.

“That's because you don't have any ice cream in your office,” Riri replies over her shoulder.

Riri takes the schedule booklet from my hand and looks at it.

“We have maths, and English together, conflict resolution and economics. I don't offer chemistry, and physics,so you'll go to that one alone. I advice you to pick an elective in History.“ she analyze it.

She continues, “we have the same homeroom as per your grandpa's request. Your locker is number 293, that is 3 lockers from mine.”

“What about PE?” I ask.

I'm just curious.

“Is that something you're interested in?” She asks, looking at me.

“Not necessarily, but it was compulsory back there.” I say.

“Well, you can also pick it is you want.” She says, bidding me to come closer. “Boys here like to do PE without shirts on, and I promise you it is worth it.”

Ouuuuiiii!

I bid her to come closer to. “Guess what. I have just found my best subject.”

We both giggle.

“Should I give you a quick tour before classes begin, or during the break?”

What's her deal with tour? Before I could reply, we pass a group of 3 boys all looking athletic

“Doris!” One holla at her.

“Who is your human friend?” Another asks.

Why refer to a fellow human being as human? Are you a goat?

“Shut up, Kev.” she says, not sparing them a look. “Ignore them.” She says to me.

We make a right turn, and are at the locker section. She leads me to my locker, and I find it open, so I setup my passcode.

I brought some books from my previous school, so I remove them from my backpack and arrange in the locker.

Riri informs me she needs to take something from her locker which is 3 lockers from my right, so I just nod.

I close my locker after I'm done and begins to walk to meet Riri when someone, a guy comes from behind her. He has her between himself and the locker, and she doesn't seem to register him yet,so I step in to save my friend from the p*****t.

I rush towards them and attack him my backpack, I hit him with all my strength while shouting. “Get away from her!”

He just tries to block my hits. After some seconds, Riri holds me to be still.

“This is Ray.” She says, laughing.

Oh!

Double!

“Who the hell is this?” He asks, just recovering.

I want to bury myself in the ground.

“This is Rey.” She says, pulling him in for a hug.

“Oh! The Reyna?” He asks, realizing.

He said ‘the Reyna’ have they been talking about me?

Now I feel awkward

“Hi!” I say, awkwardly.

“Nice to meet you, Rey.” he reach out to hug me.

“I didn't mean to hit you, I thought you were… “ i say drift in.

“It's fine. And if anyone is getting molested between the both of it will be the other way round.” He says, winking at Riri.

“Oh shut up.” She replies, but pulls him in for a kiss on the lips.

Right in front of me? In the hallway?

My precious eyes!

They pull apart, and Riri pull me away.

“See you at break, Rey” he shouts after us.

I wave slightly.

Riri has quite the eyes I must confess. Her boyfriend is a catch, tall fit guy with a handsome face and dark hair. They look good together, the ultimate high school power couple.

“What?” Riri questions, when she sees me staring at her.

“Girl! You're whipped. Look at your smile.” I say, chuckling.

“Oh please.” She blush deeper.

We go into the class, and Riri points the seat next to her. I sit down and hang my backpack at the back of my chair.

I have been trying hard for the past 15 minutes to ignore the stares I'm getting.

“Ralph got his wolf 2 days back” the boy sitting behind me says to the other.

Weird people. Why not get a cat instead?

3 girls walk in and sit in our exact positions opposite us. They look at me from head to toe like we're rivals.

“Ignore them. One of them had eyes for Ray before we were mated.” She says.

Oh rivals huh.

Well I understand anyone would want to date him.

“The one whose boobs are pushed to the neck is Priscy, the fake blonde is Judy, and the lipstick girl is Tina.” Riri gives a vivid introduction of her rivals making me laugh.

They notice we're talking about them,and the fake blonde girl, Judywalk to us.

“I thought you didn't hang around humans” Judy says to Riri while looking at me.

“Are you a goat?” I ask, before I could stop myself and Riri burst into laughter.

The bell rings.

Judy looks offended, and before she could say a word the teacher walk in.

I didn't even mean it as an insult, but this is the second time someone refer to me as human.

The way they say it is insulting, like they are not one themselves.

“That is Mr Mike, our homeroom teacher.” Riri whispers to me.

“Good morning all, we have a transfer student. Please introduce yourself.” Mr Mike says, his eyes searching till they land on me.

Everyone else is looking at me too, so I get up.

“Good morning, my name is Reyna Jones. I hope we all have a great last Year.

“ I'm not really good at introductions.

A girl who looks just a tad shorter than I am walks in, Mr Mike gives her a displeased look, but ignores her regardless.

“ Be nice to her everyone.” Mr Mike says, and opens a book.

The first thing on my timetable is mathematics, so I assume he is the math's teacher.

The girl that walked in late sits on the chair behind Riri.

“That is Ella, we are kinda close.” Riri says to me, and her eyes glaze over.

If they're close why didn't they greet.

“Are you not going to greet each other?” Curiosity gets the best of me.

“We just did.” She replies.

But how? Well that's not my business.

“She's not too pleased, she used to sit in your seat before.”

Oh!

“You should have told me, I can excuse the seat for her” I try to get up.

“It's not a problem, I just explained it to her.”

Ok

I look at Ella and smile “Hi”

“Hi” she says back with a smile

Oh thank God no grudges.

Who would want to gain a grudge on their first day?

“Differential equations” Mr Mike says while writing it on the white board.

We finished the topic two weeks back, and even wrote a test about it. I got an A.

What a relief. I worried I might be behind on school work but luck is on my side.

The class is double period. I get bored and take out my phone.

Wow, what are my eyes seeing? I'm so happy, Kenny texted back.

‘whats good? Sorry Coach took our phones. I'm on my way home ‘

I smile.

“Texting a boy during class huh” Riri says next to me.

I mouth ‘later’ to her.

“Is it your boyfriend?” She asks, making me blush.

“No” I reply.

“A crush then?” She questions again. “I want to hear all about it later.” She adds, after not getting a response the first time.

“Doris, do you want to solve this problem for us?” The teacher calls our attention.

“Absolutely not.” She says, without missing a bit.

Her answer makes her 3 rivals Snicker.

“Stop distracting the class then.” Mr Mike instructs, going back to solving the problem.

We have 3 more classes before lunch.

Jay is waiting by the door when we leave the class, he pulls Riri in for a hug. The hug seems to relax him a bit.

Wow

“Hi again.” He says to me

I wave at him.

“I need to leave early, Alpha called.” He reports to Riri.

“Is there a problem?” She asks, but I see both their eyes look like they're looking into a distance, and I'm confused as to why they'll go mute amid a conversation.

I'm just standing there awkwardly.

“Ok. I understand. See you at the pack house” Riri finally says.

What do you understand? They didn't even discuss anything and just stared into space.

They're mocking telepathy.

They share a kiss and pull apart.

“Bye Rey.” he waves at me.

“Bye Ray.” I mimic.

What are we? We sound like twins.

“Let me show you to the cafeteria” Riri says to me, and leads the way.

“He wouldn't have chosen her if not for the mate bond.” I hear Priscy say as we pass by them.

Mate again.

“They're talking about me.” Riri comments.

“Why does it matter so much to them? I see a lot of good guys around.” I question, because there are actually many good looking guys here, so what's their deal?

“Ray is the Alpha’s younger brother.” She simply reply.

“Is he like royalty?” I question, and she nods.

No wonder.

They will like Kenny too, he's also like royalty.

Oh I didn't get to reply his message, so I bring out my phone and type a reply. ‘call me when you get home, safe trip.’

I know he's going to be mad when he finds out I've relocated. I feel a little sadness.

“Did you date him?” I hear Riri ask.

“Who?” I'm confused.

“The guy you're texting” she says,as we enter the cafeteria.

Oh.

“That is Kenny, my friend. He was not around when I Left, and is in his way home now” I provide.

She doesn't give up “there's more.”

“We kissed once” I say, and she squeals making all eyes turn to us.

The cafeteria is busy like our cafeteria back in Canada. Maybe all high schools are the same. I don't want to eat.

Riri intrude my thoughts again. “Was it good?”

I nod.

“Awwwww” she swoons

Ughhhh! She's so annoying.

“Let's leave, I don't want to eat.” I say, leading the way out.

We go out, and she leads the way to what seem like a park, there are seats, and other students are seated there.

“You know, I didn't like Ray at the beginning.” She says out of the blue.

I wouldn't have guessed, because they look so in love.

“Most females didn't like me already, and Ray is all forms of trouble “ she explains.

I try to keep my curiosity at bay “so what changed?”

“We got mated.” She says,as if that explains it all.

That inside joke again.

Maybe one day I'll understand fully the concept of the inside joke.
