It's Been So Long..

October 30th, 2020 7:34 pm Persephonie It feels like it's been forever since the incident, Presephonie thought to herself. They'd had no luck finding Christian, but that hadn't stopped them from looking every where they were able. Her father had even reached out to packs as far away as Washington and Montana, and still no luck. She'd been surprised at how often Adrian was found right in the midst of it all. He had never been one to include himself in pack business, very rarely was he one to take on a leadership role. Yet, here he was, in the library with her. Both of them on their laptops as they jumped between school work and searching through social media for any tips or sightings. He hadn't left her side. Even when they slept it was dozing off in the middle of the search, both of them curled up on separate sofas in the large library. Persephonie had let herself slip once; they were curled up together on the window seat, going over the English assignment, and she'd dozed off while they read from Between the World and Me. He had been so very warm, and the smell coming off of him had soothed her into a deep state of calm as she listened to him read. Seph sat with head resting in her hand, her stare affixed on the screen but her thoughts full of Adrian. He had been the one to suggest using Social Media to help with the search, the one to suggest they get their assignments emailed so they could work together on the matter and she wouldn't be so stressed about her grades falling. And she had been so wrong about his lack of concern with school, he was in the same classes as she was. They were able to work together on most things and he had even proven her wrong once or twice. It was as if it all came so easily to him, and it made her wonder. It made her so curious. She wanted to ask him so many things. She wanted to ask him about how he managed to keep up with the advance classes, how he always appeared to be doing anything but actually participating but was exactly where she was. He may not have been in sports as she was, but he was part of the paper and he had been video conferencing with younger students he tutored in his free time. He hadn't spoken to one female in all this time, had even answered the phone to simply tell them to leave him alone. Suddenly her stomach growled loudly and she jumped at the sound, a chuckle from Adrian bringing her gaze to him. She watched as he stood, his tall frame unfolding with ease from the overly stuffed cushions of the arm chair. Persephonie was so confused. How was he all that she thought he wasn't? How had he surprised her at every turn, especially when it came to women. It had been years since she had seen him without a female at his hip. "You hungry, Seph?" Adrian Adrian made his way to the kitchen as he ran through his mental checklist, he had checked into all but one of the tips he'd received on Snapchat. He would have to get on that immediately before he finished his Chem paper, but feeding Seph came first. A smile pulling at his lips as he remembered the look of surprise at her stomach growling, her dark eyes flying to him in surprise. It was no surprise she was hungry, they hadn't eaten since breakfast. It was then the smell of roast and a medley of vegetables hit him, his own stomach growling in anger at being forced to go so long without. The smell of meat doing nothing but further angering the beast that had been nagging at him for nearly two weeks. He and his wolf were at odds; he wished to take things slow as Persephonie's birthday wasn't for a couple of months. His wolf on the other hand had a very "f**k this" attitude and wanted to mark her now and to hell with the consequences. It was getting ridiculous, his need to be near her at all times, but having to constantly practice restraint because all he wanted to do was touch her. Just the smell of her every time she leant to close was torment. Working so closely with her had been amazing though, to say the least. Seeing the shock as she learned they were in the same classes, watching the looks of admiration at his intelligence. Witnessing her slowly realize that he wasn't just some lazy asshole. It had all been so hard though, trying. He wanted to be the lazy asshole that breezed through the advanced classes on tests alone, but he wanted to be what she wanted more. He had ignored calls from friends, never mind the women he no longer had any interest in at all. But he had passed up being social, had focused on school, and had even allowed her to see him tutor the few underclassmen who took him seriously as someone to be learned from. While it had been hard, it had all been worth it. Despite the asshole in his head that constantly flooded his mind with thoughts of  her body stretched beneath him and the feel of her flesh between his teeth. When would that guy shut the f**k up? "You doing okay there, son?" The sound of Tristan's voice caused him to start and made him realize he had been standing in the doorway, simply staring at the trays of food on the buffet table. "I apologize, sir. I was lost in my thoughts.", Adrian said with an inclination of his head. He made his way to the plates, grabbing two he set them beside each other.  Adrian was very aware of Tristan's presence at the table behind him as he began to make his and Persephonie's plates. He made sure to give her a large helping of the roast, she had been looking a little pale today and hadn't ate much of the bacon or ham at morning meal. "Adrian," Tristan began. "I don't know if I've thanked you yet, but what you've been doing has been so unbelievably helpful. I am so glad you have been here to help Persephonie. Not only in her school work, but in the search for her cousin." "It has been no trouble at all, sir. I am glad to help in any way possible." Tristan chuckled, "I have noticed, and again I am thankful. Now, it's been long enough. When are you planning on telling my daughter she's been chosen as your mate?"
