Chapter 10

Jayden’s expression didn’t change, but the sharpness in his eyes spoke volumes. "What kind of moves?" ‎ ‎Giovanni sighed, stepping closer. "It’s not just small-time players, Jay. These are people with resources—well-connected, well-funded. They’ve been buying up land, making deals. Word is, they’re trying to establish themselves as a rival in the area." ‎ ‎Jayden’s lips curled into a small, dangerous smile. "Let them try." His tone was icy, but the underlying threat in his voice was undeniable. "If they think they can take my territory, they’ll find out just how badly they’ve miscalculated." ‎ ‎Giovanni hesitated for a moment, his eyes flickering with doubt. "But Jay, you know it’s not going to be easy. They’ve got some heavy hitters in their corner. If we don’t move fast, we could lose control of the entire operation." ‎ ‎Jayden’s gaze hardened. "I didn’t build this empire to let some outsiders take it from me. We’ll handle them, Giovanni. I don’t care who they have or what they think they’re capable of. The moment they step out of line, they’ll regret it." ‎ ‎There was a silence in the room as Giovanni studied Jayden’s face. He had seen this expression before—the one that showed no hesitation, no fear. Jayden was in control. Always. ‎ ‎"I’ll get the men ready," Giovanni said finally, his tone respectful but tinged with a sense of urgency. "We’ll move fast, take them by surprise." ‎ ‎Jayden nodded once, sharply. "Good. And keep me updated on every step. I want to know exactly what’s going on. No mistakes." ‎ ‎As Giovanni turned to leave, Jayden’s phone buzzed again. He didn’t need to check it. The timing was always perfect. Whoever it was would know their place and wait. ‎ ‎Giovanni glanced at the phone in Jayden’s hand, his curiosity piqued. "Someone else on your mind?" he asked, trying to sound casual. ‎ ‎Jayden didn’t answer immediately. His eyes were already scanning the message that had come through. A quick glance. The name of the sender was unfamiliar, and the message was short but to the point. ‎ ‎Message from: Marco "The shipment’s been delayed again. Something’s wrong at the port. We need to move the goods now." ‎ ‎Jayden’s fingers tightened around his phone as he read the message again. The shipment. The delays. It was becoming a pattern, and it was something Jayden didn’t tolerate. Not now, not ever. ‎ ‎He put the phone down on the desk with a quiet snap. "I’ll handle this," he said to Giovanni, his voice calm but carrying a deadly undertone. "Find out who’s behind this. I want names. And if anyone’s trying to sabotage my operation... they’ll pay." ‎ ‎Giovanni nodded quickly, his eyes flashing with a mix of loyalty and fear. "You got it, Jay." ‎ ‎As Giovanni left the office, Jayden’s mind was already racing. He picked up the phone again, dialing a number. His voice was cool, controlled, but his words were sharp. "Milo, get to the port now. I want answers. And if someone’s messing with my business, I want to know who. Now." ‎ ‎He ended the call swiftly, leaning back in his chair as he exhaled slowly. His fingers tapped the desk in a rhythmic, almost impatient pattern. Business had never been easy, but he thrived in the chaos. This new development? Just another challenge. And Jayden never backed down from a challenge. ‎ ‎The door to the office opened again, and another figure entered. This time, it was someone who knew the world Jayden operated in—someone who didn’t question his authority. Jayden didn’t need to look up to know who it was. The man’s presence was felt before the door even fully opened. ‎ ‎"Everything’s set for the shipment, boss," the new arrival said, his voice low and respectful. "But there’s been some interference from the higher-ups. They want us to delay the next phase." ‎ ‎Jayden’s eyes flickered up, sharp as a blade. "Delay?" he repeated, his voice a low growl. "No. We don’t delay anything. You make it happen. Now." ‎ ‎The man nodded quickly, backing out of the room. Jayden’s world didn’t stop for anyone. There were no excuses. He was the head of this operation, and everything moved according to his will. ‎ ‎As the man left, Jayden’s thoughts turned again, momentarily, to the complications he’d dealt with earlier. The new players. The delays. The interruptions. ‎ ‎And then, as always, his mind quickly snapped back to focus.
