Episode 9: A Walk Through the Past A week later, Elena invited Tom for a walk. Not just any walk—that walk. The trail she and Daniel used to take every fall, lined with old oak trees and golden leaves. It wasn’t fall now, but the path still felt sacred. “I haven’t been back here since he died,” she admitted. Tom glanced at her, his expression careful but open. “Are you sure you want to now?” She nodded. “I need to.” They walked in silence at first, the crunch of gravel under their shoes the only sound. Every bend in the trail held a memory. Daniel’s laugh. The way he used to race her to the bench near the lake. But instead of breaking, Elena breathed it all in. When they reached the bench, she sat. Tom joined her, not too close, not too far. “I thought this place would destroy me,” she said quietly. “But it doesn’t. It just... remembers.” Tom looked out over the water. “So do you.” Elena reached into her coat and pulled out the small notebook. She handed it to Tom. “I want you to read something.” He opened it gently, like it held a piece of her soul. Because it did.
