**Chapter 4: Military Training**
"At ease."
"Attention!"
"Stand at attention for thirty minutes. If I see anyone move, I'll add five more minutes."
Everyone groaned in misery.
Luoye and the other three were almost falling asleep.
They had been gaming last night and accidentally played until four in the morning, then had to wake up at 6:30 to assemble.
They were completely out of it.
The instructor walked through the formation, his sharp eyes scanning everyone.
Suddenly, he frowned.
A boy had his eyes closed, seemingly asleep.
Standing and sleeping?
The instructor walked up to him.
The people nearby tried to hold back their laughter.
"This classmate."
The boy jolted awake and met the instructor's gaze.
"Present!"
Wangdachui instinctively shouted. When he opened his eyes, he saw the instructor's stern face.
What's going on? Wasn't I in bed? How am I standing at attention?
"Hahahaha."
The people around finally burst out laughing.
But the instructor didn't laugh.
That meant serious consequences.
The instructor remained silent. Slowly, the laughter died down.
Then the instructor smiled.
"So funny. Why did everyone stop laughing?"
"Laugh? Hmm? No one's laughing anymore, right?"
"Add another half hour of standing."
Then the instructor said to Wangdachui, "This classmate seems a bit out of it."
"Go run ten laps around the track. I'll help you wake up."
"Instructor, I—"
"Fifteen laps."
"Yes, sir!"
Wangdachui made a bitter face, raised his arms, and ran off to the track.
Poor Hammer Bro.
Luoye and the other two silently prayed for him.
"Everyone, rest in place for ten minutes."
Luoye collapsed onto the ground.
Staying up all night plus standing at attention for an hour was too much. He couldn't handle it.
Wangdachui sat on the ground, questioning his life.
After fifteen laps, he felt like he was floating.
"Hammer Bro, are you okay?"
Luoye asked.
Wangdachui looked up blankly, staring at Luoye with an expression that said he had been broken.
Seeing this, Luoye panicked and shook Wangdachui.
"Hammer Bro, hang in there!"
Wangdachui showed no reaction. He lowered his head, his lips moving.
"Hammer Bro, what did you say? Are you thirsty or hungry?"
Luoye put his ear close to Wangdachui's mouth and listened carefully.
"I... want... girls..."
Luoye: ???
Suddenly, Wangdachui's eyes went wide at something.
Luoye followed his gaze.
Not far away, a girl was handing Lihaoyang a bottle of Gatorade.
"Holy crap!"
Wangdachui's jaw dropped. He instantly snapped back to life.
"My dog of a son is hitting on a girl behind my back."
Wangdachui started to get up and rush over.
"Hammer Bro, calm down! Don't ruin Haoyang's love life!"
Luoye grabbed Wangdachui, but then noticed something even more exaggerated in another direction.
A crowd of girls had Shenqiao completely surrounded.
"Handsome, drink mine! I bought peach-flavored Gatorade!"
"Handsome, I love you!"
"Handsome, I want to have your baby!"
The military training formation looked like a fan meeting. The head instructor watching from the stands was bewildered.
At the critical moment, the instructor shouted:
"Everyone, stand up!"
The formation lined up, and everyone returned to their positions.
Luoye was in the first row of the formation. He noticed that the girl who had given Lihaoyang the Gatorade was in the opposite formation, also in the first row.
She was wearing her military training uniform, had a cute face, a youthful vibe, and was very sweet-looking. She was about 170 cm tall, with a nice figure.
A long-legged loli.
That more or less described this girl.
Every so often, she would glance toward their formation, probably looking at Lihaoyang.
So some girls really did like muscle men? Impressive, Haoyang. A girl already cares about you on the first day of training.
In the evening, it was time for performances.
After singing "Unity Is Strength" a few times, the instructor asked if anyone had any fresh talent to show.
"We want to see a fight!"
Wangdachui pointed at Lihaoyang. "Which is stronger—the instructor's military boxing or our fitness coach?"
Hearing that, everyone got curious and started cheering.
"Fight!"
"Fight!"
The instructor looked at Lihaoyang helplessly and shook his head.
"Since everyone wants to see a fight, this classmate, stand up."
Again?
Lihaoyang stood up miserably.
From class to military training formation, he was either being called out or on his way to being called out.
He felt like his college life was doomed. Would he keep getting called on in class too?
The two contestants took their places.
Lihaoyang, though muscular, was only slightly stronger than the instructor. And the instructor's military boxing was already masterful.
After a few moves, Lihaoyang was sadly defeated. He sat back down with a dejected look.
"Are you okay?"
The girl who had given Lihaoyang the Gatorade in the morning sat down next to him, looking a little worried.
"I'm fine."
Lihaoyang waved his hand.
This girl's name was Liubingxin. She was from the multimedia major. The girls' formation was close to the boys' formation, so their evening break time overlapped.
With girls around, everyone performed more enthusiastically.
The two instructors watched the freshmen show off their youth and couldn't help smiling.
Luoye and Wangdachui also sat down next to Lihaoyang.
As for Shenqiao, he was surrounded by girls, wanting to escape but unable to.
"Coach."
Wangdachui said with a sly smile. "Tell us. How did you meet this beauty?"
Lihaoyang looked at Wangdachui blankly, not knowing what to say. Liubingxin, on the other hand, said openly, "I went to buy water for my roommates this morning. One of them didn't like Gatorade, and Lihaoyang looked thirsty, so I sold it to him."
"Oh, so you sold him water. I thought my son was about to get a girlfriend."
Wangdachui immediately felt better.
"What's your major, miss? I'm Wangdachui. Nice to meet you."
"My name is Liubingxin. Multimedia Class 2. I'm from Lecheng."
"Lecheng? I've heard of the Lecheng Buddha there."
Wangdachui and Liubingxin chatted happily, with the simplehearted Lihaoyang stuck in the middle.
Lihaoyang had probably put all his emotional intelligence into his muscles. He looked back and forth blankly, unable to join the conversation, just watching the two talk.
Luoye propped his chin on his hand, intently watching a boy performing a song.
To be honest, it was average. Not as good as his own singing.
He loved singing. In high school, he was somewhat of a karaoke king.
His mind flashed back to the scene of sheltering from the rain with that fairy senior.
Luoye stood up involuntarily.
After the boy finished singing, he took the microphone.
Wangdachui, who had been chatting enthusiastically, was stunned.
"You can sing too?"
"A song called 'Rainy Day.' Since there's no backing track, I'll sing a cappella. Please bear with me."
He took a deep breath.
Luoye began to sing softly.
"Suddenly it started raining, waiting for you in the rain"
"How much hurt have you endured, suddenly crying"
"I wait, I wait, I think, I think, but I can't reach you"
"If the sky clears but doesn't shine on you"
"Take you through the crowded crowd"
Listening to Luoye's gentle voice, even without accompaniment, everyone was captivated.
