**Chapter 2: Love Hotpot**
Luoye stretched and checked the time. He realized he had already been in the library for two hours.
His writing for the day was done.
As he walked out of the library, it started drizzling again.
So this was southern weather? If it rained like this every day during military training, that would be great.
Luoye was about to head back to the dorm. He stood at the library entrance, holding an umbrella.
Behind him, the beautiful senior who had helped him scan his face also walked out.
Qinyuwen glanced at Subaizhou, then looked outside.
Somehow, the light rain seemed to be getting heavier.
"Zhouzhou, why don't we stay in the library for a while and wait for the rain to stop?"
"No. There's something with the freshmen that I need to be present for."
Subaizhou looked at the drizzling rain and thought it was fine.
"Wenwen, hold onto my computer for me."
"Hey, Zhouzhou, are you really going?"
Qinyuwen followed her to the library entrance, watching Subaizhou's back.
Just then, Luoye, who had already left the library, felt movement behind him. He turned around.
The senior was walking hurriedly.
The light rain had suddenly turned into a downpour.
The weather in Jiangcheng was so unpredictable. Heavy rain came without warning.
Subaizhou used both hands to shield her head, but against such heavy rain, two hands were useless.
The rain soaked her, drenching her clothes. The fabric clung to her body, revealing her figure completely.
This figure was too unfair.
No, that wasn't the point.
Luoye ran after her.
"Senior."
Luoye held the umbrella over Subaizhou's head.
"Thank you." Subaizhou's personality was somewhat aloof. She didn't even look at Luoye's face.
Suddenly.
A c***k of thunder rang out.
Subaizhou, who had been walking hurriedly, froze in place.
"S-senior?"
Luoye noticed the senior wasn't moving and looked at her in confusion.
This beautiful senior was afraid of thunder.
"Sorry."
Subaizhou's face was expressionless.
Boom!
Another c***k of thunder.
Subaizhou froze again.
The rain grew heavier. Lightning flashed across the sky. Luoye's umbrella wasn't large, and the senior was keeping her distance from him, so half her body was getting soaked.
Luoye looked at the nearest teaching building. "Senior, should we take shelter there?"
Subaizhou silently nodded and followed Luoye under the umbrella.
They stood in the hallway on the first floor of the teaching building.
Silence lingered.
Should he say something?
Luoye thought for a moment. "Senior, what year are you?"
"Junior."
"Okay."
...
"Senior, what's your major?"
"Computer science."
"Okay."
...
"Senior..."
"Um..."
Luoye pointed at a large tree not far away.
"That tree looks so thick. Hahaha..."
An awkward atmosphere filled the air.
Luoye really wasn't good with girls. He had lived eighteen years without ever being in a relationship.
Luoye stole a glance at the senior beside him.
Her expression was cold.
Subaizhou also felt awkward.
So she chose not to speak.
As for student union work or anything else—at a time like this, she couldn't think about that.
She should have stayed in the library with Qinyuwen to wait out the rain.
She was afraid of thunder, but she hadn't expected thunder with this rain. The weather forecast hadn't said it would be a thunderstorm either.
Out of habit, Luoye pulled out his phone. He looked at the chat with his goddess, hesitated for a moment, then exited and opened another chat.
"Love Hotpot"
This person was one of two friends his cousin Gumingxuan had invited to play games with them back in the day. Gumingxuan had said she was very good at gaming.
Later, Luoye found out she really was very good, so he had taken the initiative to add her as a contact. They played games together when they were free and chatted about daily life. She was basically a gaming buddy.
Since Gumingxuan had invited her, she was probably his friend, right?
Anyway, they were just internet acquaintances. Luoye didn't really care about her identity or her name. She was someone to chat with to pass the time. He had no plans to meet her.
Luoye opened the keyboard. "Let me tell you, I'm sheltering from the rain right now with a senior who looks like a fairy."
The next moment.
Subaizhou's phone buzzed.
She picked it up.
Luoye: Let me tell you, I'm sheltering from the rain right now with a senior who looks like a fairy.
Subaizhou: ...
She turned to look at Luoye.
Then she silently put her phone on silent mode and replied: How good-looking? Send me a picture.
Ding!
Luoye's phone buzzed. He looked at the message.
Luoye: Taking a sneaky photo feels wrong.
Love Hotpot: Find a chance? Just don't let her notice.
Luoye didn't reply.
Subaizhou very cooperatively turned her head away, pretending to look at the scenery outside.
Soon.
Luoye: [image]
Luoye: Very pretty, right? (animated emoji)
Subaizhou looked at the photo and fell into thought.
Anything really could happen in this world.
She knew that the boy she often played games with was Professor Gu's younger brother. Before he went abroad, the professor had also told her to help take care of his brother.
But she really hadn't expected that her first meeting with Professor Gu's brother would be like this...
She wasn't prepared.
Subaizhou felt this was a bit**.
The rain continued to fall.
Thunder rumbled, and the weather grew darker.
A cold wind blew. Luoye shivered.
Suddenly.
He seemed to realize something. He turned to look at the senior.
The senior was still in the same position, but her body was trembling slightly.
Such a beauty, pitiful and endearing.
Luoye thought to himself that when he got back, he would slap himself.
It was so cold, and the senior had been caught in the rain, yet he had just let her stand there freezing.
Without a second thought, Luoye took off his jacket and draped it over the senior's shoulders.
"Thank you."
No one knew how long passed. The thunder faded, the rain lightened, and a soft drizzle fell outside.
The heavy rain had lasted only twenty minutes. In Jiangcheng, heavy rain came quickly and left quickly.
The barely visible drizzle danced in the wind.
Going out now wouldn't be a problem.
Without a word, Subaizhou left with a calm expression.
Watching the senior's back, Luoye couldn't help but feel mesmerized.
The senior was about 167 cm tall. Luoye was 178 cm. His jacket was only slightly big on her. It fit her quite well.
The senior had a great figure and was beautiful, but her personality was a bit cold.
A senior this beautiful probably already had a boyfriend, right?
Luoye sighed.
He had never been in a relationship.
He had crushed on someone for three years. During those three years, he rarely had conversations with girls other than his goddess.
His mind wandered back to the senior's face. His heart stirred slightly, but he quickly shook his head.
Just l**t at first sight.
If he liked someone just because she was beautiful after a chance encounter, wouldn't that be harassment?
Luoye picked up his umbrella and left the teaching building.
He returned to the dorm.
Someone had arrived.
A guy about 175 cm tall, with a buzz cut, a sturdy build, and slightly dark skin, sat up when he saw someone enter.
"Are you my roommate? Hi, I'm Lihaoyang. Born and raised in Jiangcheng."
"Hi, I'm Luoye. From Jingcheng."
"Jingcheng? A big city guy."
They added each other's contact info and started chatting.
"Aren't locals supposed to register tomorrow? Why are you here today?"
"Ah, my home is nearby. I had nothing to do, so I thought I'd bring my luggage to the dorm first. I didn't expect it to rain."
Luoye looked at his slightly wet clothes, his expression strange.
Was everyone here into wet looks?
Noticing Luoye's gaze, Lihaoyang laughed. "I brought an umbrella, but at the school gate, I saw a little girl getting rained on, so I lent it to her."
Then he continued, "Guess what? I thought she was a little girl, only about 155 cm tall. But then she carried her luggage into our school."
"I even helped her carry her luggage all the way."
"Hahaha, you can't judge a book by its cover."
"I always thought southerners were small, but Brother Haoyang, you're so robust."
Lihaoyang flexed his arm, showing off his muscles. "I work out every day."
They chatted happily. Having company in the dorm made Luoye feel much better.
Early the next morning.
A knock came at the door.
Luoye got up and opened it.
"Hello!"
A guy about Luoye's height, extremely handsome, appeared at the door.
This person... was so handsome. Ridiculously handsome.
Luoye even felt a flicker of thought that he was as handsome as himself...
An illusion. Definitely an illusion.
"Are you a celebrity?"
Luoye asked instinctively.
The guy laughed.
He had seen this kind of reaction many times.
"I'm not a celebrity. I'm your roommate. My name is Shenqiao."
Behind Shenqiao, a guy about 170 cm tall with a somewhat goofy look followed him in.
"Hello, I'm Wangdachui."
The name sounded very friendly.
Luoye immediately put his arm around Wangdachui's shoulder and pulled him in.
Lihaoyang was still sound asleep, one size-44 bare foot hanging off the edge of the bed, emitting a charming odor.
After Lihaoyang woke up, the four of them went to buy trash cans, brooms, and other supplies, then headed to the third cafeteria.
Jiangcheng University had three cafeterias total. The first cafeteria was closest to the boys' dorm. So why go to the third?
Because the third cafeteria was closest to the girls' dorm. Lots of girls. Easy on the eyes.
"Military training starts tomorrow."
Wangdachui made a bitter face.
"What's there to be afraid of? Isn't exercise good?"
Lihaoyang showed off his muscles, drawing exasperated looks from the other three. They sat in a corner of the third cafeteria.
