Kyus's POV
It has been a week since I saw a little mouse in the yard, I have a feeling she is avoiding me.
I did lose the bet that day, Charlie's pick of the litter decided to go ahead and overdose. fùcking weak!
Time passes by very slow in here. A week can feel like a month.
I held myself back from calling Alora, she keeps saying that we could never happen again, and I must stop calling her at night. but when do I ever listen to people when they tell me I can't do somthing, that makes me want to do it even more.
It can be so easy to get things around here when the gards are dirty as hell and they owe you favours. getting little mouse's phone number really wasn't hard.
It was lights out in the prison, and all the inmates were tucked into their cells. I sat on my bed, flipping the little flip phone open and closed. I want to call her. I want to ask why she is avoiding me?
I argued with myself for what felt like forever before I said fùck it. I dialled her number, letting the ring sound in my ear.
It rang and rang. Nothing, no answer
hmm, yep, she's definitely avoiding me.
having Alora on my mind is peaceful. It helps me forget about all the other bad s**t going on around me.
when the morning had come, myself and the other inmates did our normal routine. thank fùck it was French toast day, I do love French toast. when you get put in the hole, you miss out on all the good things about this place, even the smallest thing like French toast day.
after breakfast, it was work station time, I made my way down to the big warehouse with some of the other inmates that were in the same work area as me. we built furniture, rocking chairs, desks, shelves, and small things like that. I have no clue where it goes once we finish it. we are all monitored by a few gards. there's no way they would let us use tools without the proper security in place.
I was halfway hammering in a nail when one of the gards shouted my name.
"You have a visitor," he shouted
I gave the nail a few more hits, making it go all the way in the wood.
I have very few people who come visit me these days, my lawyer and my brother inlaw Lance.
The gard walked me through the halls of the prison, he didn't talk to me, I didn't talk to him. we came to stop at a door.
" You have 10 minutes," he said while opening the door
I stepped inside and saw Lance sitting on the other side of the glass, fùck it was good to see his face.
It was a small room, a glass wall separating us, a table and one chair.
Lance's face had a worried look. Something must be wrong
" It's good to see you, brother," I said
Lance may not be my blood, but he has always been by my side. now that he is dating my little sister, he has become my family.
"You too, brother,"
I wish I could give him a hug through this glass.
" Is everyone alright? is Jenny ok?" I asked
" Yes, we are all good, Jenny is fine. she's still kicking my arse but she is doing really well," he said
I forced out a little laugh.'That's our Jenny'
" What's going on? You never come in for a surprise visit?" I asked
the worried look was still hanging on his face, his chest rose and fell as he let out a sigh
" We got wind that someone has put a hit on you."
" I see," I replied
I wasn't sure what to say, just when things were going. A OK in here this shìt happenes
" Do you know who put the hit out?" I asked
" My guess, it's the cop, I think he got a sense we were sniffing around." Lance said
fùcking cops!
" Kyus, you need to be carefull, he could have someone in the prison."
" I'll take care of it. You don't need to worry about me. does Jenny know?" I asked
" No, I didn't want to stress her out." he said
" Good, don't tell her."
" Your father is looking into it."
"Father?" I asked
Lance could see my confusion on my face, not once since I had been locked up, has my father come to see me. he blames me for losing his youngest son.
" He needed time to grev. He still loves you. You're the only son he has now. Just give him a chance." Lance spilled out
" I gave him a chance, I have been locked in this hell for 3 years, and not once has Father come to see how I was doing. I lost mathew that day as well, not just him." I spat
I could feel my anger boiling. fùck you dad! you may have lost a son, but I also lost my baby brother he didn't own the right to be the only one who could grev his death.
"Keep a clear head, brother." Lance said
I let out a shaky breath. I thought I was past my daddy issues, apparently not.
" You're right," I said
" One more year, and you're out, just keep your head low and stay out of trouble." he smirked
" Don't I always." I replied
" No, you don't." he said
before I knew it, a bang sounded on the door. The gard stepped through and told me times up, I said goodbye to Lance.
I do miss seeing his ugly face, I miss my whole family. Lance is right. I need to keep my head clear if there's a hit out. I can't have any distractions. that includes a certain blonde mouse running around the prison.
