Chapter 2

LEILANI RAVENWOOD My heart pounded hard in my chest at the set of eyes that now watched me in a predatory manner, piercing and stripping me whole before him. The hall fell completely silent and everyone's gaze turned to me too. A man referred to as 'The Cursed' and who is meant to exist in myths only, walked in and called me 'interesting'? I'd be lying if I said I wasn't trembling with fear. "You reek of ancient blood." His voice came again. Like earlier on, within the blink of an eye, he was gone from where he stood. I tried to trace his movements, but a rush of wind hit me from behind. A hand gripped my chin firmly, forcing my head upward and my back rested on something warm and solid from behind. Him. "Let go of me!" I tried to wiggle my self out from his hold, but it was futile. His touch was cold as ice on my face yet it caused a warm sensation to run up through me. I could feel my back starting to burn physically, specifically where my birth mark was located. Before I could utter a word, his other hand yanked the back of my dress, tearing the fabric with ease. "And you bear the mark of the goddess." He murmured referring to the two crescent markings which I was born with, and I froze in shock as murmurs spread through the hall. Cold air kissed my bare skin at the part he ripped out, and the only thing that stopped my dress from faling off was the support I gave it at the front with my hands. I didn't understand it, but his touch at my back after ripping my dress seemed to turn the burning sensation higher. It felt electric and unnatural, like my blood was being boiled and I winced out in pain. Perharps he felt it too or perharps it was out of distaste because he instantly shoved me away from him and I fell hard to the ground. "Leilani!" My father's voice trembled with fear as he rushed to where I was. I clutched the fabric tighter to me to avoid it falling off and causing further humiliation. A low growl rumbled through the hall, deep and resonant, and chaos ran through the gathering as Sebastian began to shift. His form stretched, and the sound of his bones breaking was audible. He stood on two feet, huge and towering over everyone. He wasn't a werewolf. He was something different. Far more scarier, ancient and more monstrous. Like an embodiment of wrath and sin. Something that shouldnt be and the hall reeked of fear. I reeked of fear. When he spoke again, his voice was no longer entirely human. “I brushed it off when I heard whispers of the prophecy.” He snarled, his words echoing through the hall. “But it seems the goddess isn’t done playing her games with me.” His gaze swept over the trembling crowd. “I, Sebastian Kol, one of the very First Bloods, have awoken. Spread the word and swear your allegience to me as your high king. All that will be known to those who defy is death and suffering." He paused, and the weight of his presence crushed the air from my lungs. Then his gaze slid back to me. “Your daughter bears the sacred mark.” He said to my father, every word deliberate, lethal. “And she carries a prophecy that binds her fate to mine. Surrender her to me on the night after the Fevered moon or I will come for her myself. And when I do, there will be nothing left of your lands but ashes.” Silence fell. I could barely breathe. His eyes, piercing and haunting lingered on me one last time, and for a heartbeat, the world stopped. I felt something shift deep inside me, something I didn’t understand. Then he turned and disappeared into the shadows as swiftly as he had come, leaving only terror and the sound of my heart pounding in chest. The night after the Fevered moon was two nights away. His demand was clear and utterly serious. I was to be surrendered to him else our pack and lands would be met with ruin. ********** The cold air of the shivering night licked at my skin, merciless and intimate all at once, causing goosebumps along my bare flesh. I felt my exposed n*****s harden instantly under the relentless chill. I blinked, disoriented at first, but then realized I was half-naked, clad only in my thin underwear that clung around my waist. The Fevered Moon hung in the sky above me with a reddish hue and every breath I took felt too loud in the quiet of the night. Panic surged through me when I tried to move, only to feel the bite of cold metal around my wrists and ankles. I was chained. My hands above my head to iron spikes driven into the stone and also around my ankles, forcing my legs apart and it's mid-area exposed. I was sprawled helplessly on a massive rock whose rough surface bit into my back and ass. I couldn't move, couldn't cover myself. My heart pounded in my chest, my breath came in shallow gasps. Where was I? How had I ended up like this? Then, a voice slithered from the darkness behind me, low and resonant, dripping with dark amusement. “You lie alone beneath the Fevered Moon, little wolf.” My breath stuttered. I knew that voice. Sebastian Kol. The ancient beast who had woken up from decades of slumber, and demanded that my father surrender me to him or be met with doom. My body went rigid, a mix of terror and unwelcome heat flooding my veins. I twisted my head, straining to get a glimpse him, but he remained out of my sight. Like a predator lurking in the shadows aiming at his prey. Only his voice told of his presence. "Bound,” he continued calmly, “spread upon stone like an offering. Your body left bare to the night… and to me.” His words slid over my skin like cold fingers. I tugged uselessly at the chains, trying to break free but the metal clanged uselessly against the stone, and it made my breasts bounce slightly, drawing my awareness to every inch of my exposed skin. The rough granite scraped against my ass as I shifted, the friction igniting sparks of unwanted sensation. "Sebastian." I breathed, the name escaping as both defiance and desperation. My body arched off the rock, suddenly aroused and out of my control. It was like nothing I've felt before. Nothing had gotten me on so quickly and with little effort. Just the awareness that he could see me in that position literally lit me on fire. A low sound followed from him. Not laughter but something darker. "I can sense the purity of your body, little wolf. It's known no mans touch yet at this very moment, it calls for me. It aches for me to claim every virgin inch of you." I gasped, mortified heat flooding my face at the truth of it. My thin underwear had become soaked and slicky and my core pulsed with a forbidden need. No man, no beast, had ever laid a hand on me, let alone stirred this fire in my core. My body betrayed me, n*****s peaking hard against the cold, my hips bucking off the stone in a desperate search for friction. “Please.” I whispered. “Stop.” The word came out wrong. Sounded too breathless. He stepped closer. I felt it in the shift of the air, the heat of him at my back. "It aches for me to lick the fear off your skin, for my mouth to suck on your mounds, and my length buried deep inside you until you shatter around me." His words painted images vividly in my mind, the ache between my legs becoming stronger. I imagined his ruthless eyes on me, devouring my exposure. But I tried to snap out of it. It wasn't right. He wasn't any good. "Stop! Release me." "Well now, damn the goddess for having our fates intertwined and prophecying you to be the key to my freedom. You belong to me now. Your mind and your body. I always take what is mine and I shall do the same to you." I felt a gust of wind and this time when he spoke, I felt him more closer, like whispering above my ear, but still out of sight. "One more night left for your father to surrender you to me else his lands will burn and his people drenched in blood and screams. And I shall hunt you down myself and have you chained in chains thicker than this for that is what are. My captive." His words held more than just a threat. It held promise. I felt the chains loosened and the stone melt to softness. My eyes snapped open and I was met with my rooms interior, sheets tangled around my sweat-dampened body. Moonlight filtered through the window. Still the fevered moon and I realized it was just a dream. Or rather a nightmare.
