Lyla's eyes widened. Pregnant? She had been married to Kane for two years, yet she had never been able to conceive a child. And now, Evelyn—the woman who had stolen her husband—was carrying his child. Before Lyla could even process the revelation, Juliet Miller, Kane's mother, rushed forward. "My child!" Juliet immediately helped Evelyn to her feet, her expression filled with concern. "Get up, child. Don't kneel. You must be careful with my grandchild." She gently supported Evelyn, completely forgetting that Lyla was standing right in front of her. Then Juliet turned toward Lyla, her face hardening. The Miller's have always looked down on Lyla,Juliet had always uterlizes every opportunity she saw to ridicule Lyla "You'll get what you deserve." Lyla's lips parted slightly. She stared at Juliet in disbelief. Her heart was already shattered, yet the woman's next words crushed whatever remained. "You couldn't bear a child for two years, yet you want to kill another woman's baby?" Lyla's face went pale. Her hands clenching tightly. "I never—" "How dare you harm my grandchild?" Juliet interrupted furiously. "You're nothing but an empty barrel, yet you have the audacity to lay your hands on the child of the Miller family!" her hands pointing her lyla's face The words echoed through the garden. Empty barrel. Lyla felt as though someone had ripped her heart from her chest. She had always known the Millers disliked her. She knew they considered her unworthy of Kane. She had endured their coldness and insults for years because she loved her husband. But this... This went too far. She slowly looked around. The Miller family stood on one side. Evelyn stood safely protected in Kane's arms. And then Lyla's gaze landed on her own stepmother, Mary Kim. Mary stood quietly among the crowd, watching her daughter being humiliated without saying a single word. Lyla stared at her for several seconds. Not once did Mary step forward to defend her. Not once did she ask what had happened. Not once did she tell the others to stop insulting her. Lyla suddenly felt an unbearable emptiness inside her. She was the one who had been betrayed. She was the wife who had walked in on her husband with another woman. She was the one whose marriage had been destroyed. Yet somehow... She had become the villain. Evelyn was the one receiving sympathy. Kane was being protected. And everyone was looking at Lyla as though she were the monster. A bitter smile slowly formed on Lyla's lips. So this was the truth. For two years, she had desperately tried to become part of the Miller family. She had endured their disdain. She had sacrificed everything for Kane. She had even blamed herself for not being able to give him a child. But now she finally understood. No matter how much she sacrificed, she would never be enough for them. Lyla lowered her eyes, quietly wiping away the last tear on her cheek. "Fine." Her voice was unexpectedly calm. Everyone turned toward her. Lyla looked at Kane one last time. "Since you've found someone who can give you everything I couldn't..." She paused, her eyes falling briefly on Evelyn's stomach. "Then I'll give you what you want." Kane's expression suddenly changed. "Lyla, what are you talking about?" She smiled faintly. "I'm talking about a divorce." The garden fell silent again. This time, Lyla didn't wait for anyone's response. She turned around and walked away. She had spent two years trying to save a marriage that only she cared about. Now, she was done. Kane Miller could have his pregnant lover. The Miller family could have their precious grandchild. And everyone who had humiliated her could keep their judgment. But three years from now... They would all regret the day they treated Lyla Kim as though she were worthless.
