Six I opened the back door to my house, stepped out, then looked around. Didn’t see anyone. Unlocked the car door with my remote. I motioned to Danella, then put my arm around her to shield her face, and hurried to the car. Opened the back door, and Danella slipped in. She was under the blanket almost instantly. I closed the door, then walked around and got in the driver’s seat. Locked the doors all around and started the car. I drove slowly out of the driveway and then down the street. I went around the block and didn’t see the red Impala. Didn’t see any cars, actually. “You OK?” I asked. “Peachy,” I heard. I smiled. Drove to Columbia Street. Went by Danella’s house. No cars there now. No one across the street playing basketball or mowing the lawn either. I parked up the road away f
