“Danny will follow the ladies,” Johnson said, “in case they need help, and he’ll escort them out again. If the EMTs are needed, if the kids need help, I’ll let them pass, too.”
“He needs to leave his weapons here,” Nate said.
“He has the constitutional right to carry a weapon,” Johnson said. “I’m not going to deprive him of that. He won’t use it on the ladies. What if they encounter a bear?”
Lydia laughed. “This guy is a piece of work.”
“I’m fairly certain a bear would run from them,” Nate said. “Besides, it’s not bear season.”
“It’s bear season if the bear attacks you,” Johnson said.
“Why does it sound like they’re not actually talking about bears?” I said.
