The crackle of thunder jolted Fiona out of deep thought. "Ahh!" She yelled, as her heart jumped.
Beverley ran into Fiona's room to check on her. "You alright?"
"Yeah. The thunder caught me by surprise, because my mind was on Blaine. Just trying to savor the precious moments we had together, prior to tonight's disaster after encountering this
Lindsay girl," Fiona said, curling up her lower lip, as her tears came gushing out. Her head dropped onto her pillow, and she let the rain in her soul fall out wherever it could land. Nursing her shattered heart, she let out a loud cry, as her entire body shook with a fire burning up her spirit. Only remnants of love for Blaine remained in her heart while she punched her pillow with her fist.
"I'm so sorry, Fiona. What exactly happened tonight?" Beverley asked while sitting at Fiona's bedside, stroking her hair.
"I don't know where to begin. Things were going great. We were having a great time, enjoying each other's company, when this Lindsay shows up, claiming to be the mother of Blaine's three-year-old son and unborn child. She's three months pregnant. They broke up two weeks before Blaine asked me out," Fiona sobbed into her pillow, smacking down on it with her hand, only more gently then what she had done moments earlier with her fist.
"Then, he chose to be with you, because he wanted to be with you. Fiona, don't you see? If he was already broken up with the Lindsay girl two weeks before he met you, it means he was free to see whoever he chose. And he chose you," Beverley assured her, grabbing some tissues from the nightstand, and dabbing at Fiona's eyes.
"Then why were they kissing each other in a passionate embrace when we were pulling away from the restaurant, and leaving the parking lot?" Fiona cried, looking up at Beverley with her puffy red eyes.
"Clear something up for me. When I arrived at the restaurant to pick you up, Blaine was the only one outside with you. So, at what point did the Lindsay girl come out? Tell me exactly what happened leading up to where the two of you were standing outside of the restaurant. I saw him gently tug you back like he was pleading with you not to go. So this Lindsay and him embracing in a passionate kiss makes no sense to me. Do you follow what I'm saying to you? I think you should talk to him," Beverley advised Fiona, continuing to dab at her tears.
"But you said there was something suspicious about Blaine. A feeling you had about him you didn't like. You were right about that. He hid the truth from me when it came to his son and his unborn child. That's the vibe you were picking up on, but didn't know exactly what it was at the time. If he was dishonest with me about that, then what else is he hiding from me," Fiona screeched, propping herself up on her pillow, as she wiped away her tears with her hands.
Beverley dabbed at Fiona's face to dry the tears as quickly as they fell. However, they fell faster, and faster. The more she dabbed at Fiona's eyes and the rest of her face, the heavier the tears fell, coming in like tidal waves.
"Yes. I did have a feeling about him I didn't like. But knowing what exactly is going on with him and the situation, I'm very suspicious about the kiss you saw going on between him and Lindsay. Why was she out there all of a sudden? Don't you think it's possible she made the scene in front of you deliberately, and he was taken by surprise?" Beverley asked.
Fiona glared at Beverley, blurting out, "You're defending him? Beverley, I don't understand you. How come when I was first asked out by him two and a half months ago, you were so against my going out with him and getting involved with him? Now, you've had a change of heart? I'd like to know why you take his side all of a sudden. I know the Lindsay girl gives the impression of being underhanded and conniving, because she is. But they both hurt me. As for her to hurt me, it's one thing, but Blaine? I never expected that," Fiona shrieked, smacking her hands down on her thighs.
"Calm down, Fiona. I'm not taking his side over yours. I'm just trying to understand what transpired. Please talk to him. You should at least hear him out. And then, if you don't want to be involved with him anymore, it's for you to decide, and I'll stand by your decision. Don't make the mistake of walking away from the guy without knowing what exactly went on. Find out more about him. At least confront him. Don't just lie here on your bed and sulk. If you love him like I know you do, then fight for him. Don't give up on him just yet. You need to know where you stand with him, and where he stands with you," Beverley advised while getting up from the chair, and headed out the door of Fiona's bedroom.
