Fiona sat cross-legged on her bed looking at some photos of herself and Blaine taken over the course of the two and a half months they had been dating. Those which particularly struck her interest were the one's taken of them on their first date.
Blaine showed up dressed in a suit and tie. His hair was slicked back with gel.
Upon his arrival, Beverley greeted him at the door. "Hello, Blaine. Fiona will be ready momentarily. She's just putting the final touches on her make-up. Won't you please come in and have a seat, in the meantime."
"Thank you," he said while walking over to the sofa, and sitting down.
Fiona came into the living room with an expression of awe on her face upon laying eyes on Blaine. He sure looks good tonight. He always looked good. But the way his hair is slicked back makes him even more gorgeous than he already is. I'm impressed with the way he outdid himself.
Blaine got up from the sofa. "You look great, Fiona. Are you ready to go?" He asked while approaching her.
"Yeah. I'm ready," she said softly.
"You look after my sister, Blaine. She's the only sister I've got. Actually, she's the only sibling I've got," Beverley, smiled, as she approached Blaine, giving him a hug.
After hugging Fiona, Beverley walked them to the door.
"I'll definitely look after Fiona. She's very special," Blaine replied, as he and Fiona headed over to his car.
He held the door open for her.
As she entered the car, her heart fluttered. I sure feel like a princess tonight. Then, again, Blaine certainly is my prince. He looks so dashing. I feel so giddy like a schoolgirl, although I'm a grown woman. But, I guess, that kind of feeling should be with a person throughout their lives. I'm so glad Beverley made me get out of the house a few days ago when I was feeling down in a slump. Otherwise, I never would have run into Blaine.
As Blaine started up the car, he turned on the radio. He put it to an easy listening station.
"What kinds of music do you like, Fiona? As for myself, I like all kinds, depending on the kind of mood I'm in, and on what's appropriate for the occasion," he said while backing his car out of her driveway.
"I like all kinds of music. It's hard to decide what kind I love the most. Some of my favorites are Country Western, Easy Listening, Acid Rock, Pop, and some Funk," she replied, clinging to her purse which rested on her lap.
"Me too. I like a lot of the old songs from back during our high school and middle school days. Listening to them sure does bring back fond memories of my days as a teenager. I had lots of fun with my friends. We'd goof off after school. Do you remember when hanging out at the malls was popular or going to the roller rink every weekend?" He asked.
"I wasn't much into the Roller Rink. I wasn't good at skating. I only went a couple of times with my friends. But, I did enjoy seeing everyone. My most favorite
places to hang out were in the malls. In particular, I liked hanging out at the Food Court, where my friends and I talked about all the things concerning teenagers," she laughed, looking at the traffic in front of her, and, then, sneaking a glance at Blaine.
"Yeah. My friends and I did that too. But, those were some of the good old days. I'm sure we have much more fun and exciting times to look forward to," he said, honking at the car which cut him off, "You've got to be careful at night. Some people drive crazy.'
"They don't only drive crazy at night. A car recently hit mine from behind, because he wasn't looking where he was going. He made me late to work. I had some employees waiting for me in the employee lounge area of the department store, because I was scheduled to train them. It put me behind at work," she laughed, fidgeting with her bangs, "But the jerk ended up getting the ticket for his negligence."
"That's good. How was the rest of your day at work?" Blaine asked, glancing at her briefly, and then focused his attention on the road.
"It was great," Fiona replied while they were approaching a stop light.
