Talia's Pov

Talia: "Mom! I am off to see Drake," I screamed as I ran out of the house. "Don't stay out too late Talia", she screamed back. But I was already out the door. I hadn't seen my best friend Drake in 3 weeks. That's the longest we have gone without each other. Drake is the Alphas' son and the future Alpha of our pack, the Golden Moon. He has been my best friend since childhood and I have had a crush on him since I was 5. I have had to watch him date other girls, and it has been the hardest thing I have had to endure.

Drake's newest girlfriend is Ava. Surprisingly, this is the longest relationship he has ever been in, and I have had to watch them being romantic while I lose my friend.

I run as fast as my wolf legs can go without shifting. And soon enough, the Pack house comes into view and I can see Drake. He is standing by his truck getting his stuff out of the car. He turns and sees me and a broad grin spreads across his face.

I dived into Drake's open arms. "Drake!" I screamed, "Oh, I have missed you." He lifts me up and hugs me back, laughing.

Drake: "Missed me much, Talia?" he asked. Just as he was putting me down, I heard someone clear their throat from behind. Instantly, I found out it was the evil Ava, Drake's girlfriend.

" I haven't seen you in 3 weeks and you are out here hugging another she-wolf?" She asked with a pout.

Drake: "It's just Talia, Ava, you know I only have eyes for you baby", pulls her to his side and they kiss like no one else was looking.

I have had to endure their PDA for six months and it hurts me to see Drake with another woman. But I would rather be his friend than not have him in my life at all.

Drake lifted Ava bridal style and walked off into the pack house without a care about me. As they were leaving, Ava turned to look at me and stuck her tongue out to spit on me. Well, she is not getting rid of me that easily. I followed behind them as they walked into the house. Drake carried Ava into his room on the 9th floor while I waited in the building's general living room, located on the 2nd floor. I did not come all the way here not to spend time with Drake, and if I had to wait for them to be done, then I would wait.

As I wait, I open my backpack to complete some of my assignments. We are in our senior year and will soon turn 18 when we can finally shift completely and find our mate. I am excited about finding out that Drake is my mate. At least that's what I have been telling myself. Maybe when he finds out that I and my wolf Nala are his mates he will treat us better and forget about all these other girls. Thinking about it brings light to my eyes.

'What are you thinking about T", John said as he slid into the chair beside me. John is the Beta's son and will be the Beta of our pack when Drake becomes Alpha. "Don't tell me you are daydreaming about Drake Again" He teased.

Me: "Shush," I said, looking around to make sure no one heard. "Don't say that out loud John, Someone might hear you".

John: "Honey, everybody knows you are in love with Drake''

I lowered my head. " Yeah, except for the one person that I want to know."

John: "You better let him know quickly before Ava sucks his lips off his face"

John eyeballed me and said ' you also need to get your hair under control,' he said laughing, "I have never seen so much hair in my life."

Me: "ha ha ha" I said sarcastically. " You know I have tried everything."

I put my head down, pretending to focus on my assignment, when John raised my head up and his eyes met mine for an instant before he kissed me... I was so shocked. I was stiff. I thought no one wanted me. Why is John kissing me? And why am I still here? Why am I not pushing him away? I don't want Drake finding me in this situation. But why do I care? He is with Ava right now.

John moved his fingers into my hair and caressed my scalp. I started kissing him back. John was cute, tall and a strong warrior. After Drake, he is the next most eligible bachelor. He pulled me up to a standing position and hugged me closer, deepening the kiss. i was getting lost in his arms. Later I will ask questions. I have never been kissed like this before.

And then we heard a very loud growl. I was startled and jerked back from John. We both turned and found Drake at the entrance of the living room with Ava by his side. I turned, looking over at John only to see a wide grin on his face.

I could not speak. I wanted to explain myself but I could not find the words.

" What's up, boss" John said.

"What are you doing John?" Drake looked very angry.

"Nothing you know, just catching up with Talia...it has been a while."

Ava was so uncomfortable beside Drake. She looked really pissed.

"Why are you bothered by this, Drake," she said.

"Yea, why are you bothered by this Drake?" John mimicked

I was still tongue tied. Drake finally met my eyes and "My office, Now John!"

and he walked away, leaving me and Ava. John followed after squeezing my hands and winking at me on his way out.

Then he whispered "thank me later babe....or not".

I am so confused. What just happened?

Ava was staring daggers at me. I gathered my stuff quickly and tried to walk past her.

She grabbed my arm and pulled me back. "Where are you going you slut!"

Did she just call me a Slut? "You think you can get all the best boys in our pack" she continued.

"What the hell are you talking about?''... I was getting pissed. I am no slut

"Oh, if you want John, why won't you leave Drake alone?.....He definitely doesn't want you with your messy hair." she said with disgust on her face. "I don't want anybody, Ava, and they definitely don't want me" I snatched my hands back and walked out. "Stay away from Drake or you will have me to deal with" she called after me.

What just happened? Why is Drake mad? Why did John kiss me? Does he have feelings for me or was he trying to get under Drakes' skin? I need to get home and clear my head.
