CATHERINE’S POV
We needed to act and fast. The four of us decided to find my mom’s safe house. I had a feeling Carlos would be there too.
We made our way through the forest. Mason was sleeping on Tyler’s back. The forest was silent except for the sound of our footsteps crunching over the leaves. The old map in my hand trembled a bit, not because of the wind, but because my fingers wouldn’t stop shaking.
My mother’s map. Luckily, she gave it to me.
“In case something ever happens, Catherine… you’ll know where to go.” she had said.
I never thought I’d actually need it.
Tyler walked beside me. Behind us, Stephanie took over from Tyler and carried Mason on her hip. My little brother had fallen asleep halfway through the walk. His head was tucked against her shoulder
