Chapter 1

The Silver Moon Pack is stronger with their longest alliance, the Dark Moon Pack. Many say they should just join forces and live as one pack since it's only a couple of miles between our territory but due to the numbers, it might be better to have two alphas. My father, Jacob is the gamma of Silver Moon, and my beautiful mother, Analise is a faithful wife and mate and a wonderful housewife. Everyone loves her to bits. Me and my older brother Josh are spoiled because we are the highest ranked kids in the pack, since our alpha Derek and Luna Mia had no children, neither did Beta Lucas and his mate Katie. Josh and I spent a lot of our time admiring our dad teaching the young weres how to protect our pack, should anything happen. We played on the cool grass practicing these moves on each other. "Lillian-Marie and Josh you need to be careful, I can't have my two babies bruising each other." mother said as she walked over, I gazed up at her and saw her loose curls flowing in the wind with a dazzling smile playing on her lips. She made eye contact with her father and I didn't miss the loving wink he sent to her which caused her to blush. I may be only 11 but I can't wait to find my mate. "But mom, I wanna be just like daddy!" Josh whined attempting to take hold of my arm, I knew nothing good would come from it so I quickly darted away, hiding behind our mother's long skirt before sticking my tongue out at him. Josh glared at me and I couldn't help but feel giddy inside. Mom let out a hearty laughing before I felt her gentle touch on the top of my curly head. "Why don't you two come help me in the kitchen, we have guests coming over this weekend" she suggested. Josh looked conflicted but I just glanced up at her and hoped in my heart that alpha Joe with his lovely wife Trisha and their most handsome son Alex was coming to visit us. Alex and I had always been close, he was 2 years older than me but ever since I was able to walk I'd follow him around whenever he visited us. This was often because he was set to be a future alpha that would also help our people. As if reading my mind my mother said "Alex will be here in about 2 hours." My eyes lit up as I ran as fast as my legs could carry me to our house. We could have lived in the packhouse but my dad bought land when he was younger and decided to build a decent size house when he confirmed mom was his mate for life. They just preferred to have a little more privacy, which I loved. I loved our backyard that led to the woods between our pack, mostly because I'd wait on the patio for Alex to come emerging whenever they would visit us. As I came through the front door I heard mom yell behind me 'no running in the house' I smiled thinking of Alex's bright green eyes, he was truly my best friend and I was his. The time went by in a blur as I was sat on a stool helping mom make all sorts of goodies and dinner that was to be served soon. The door opened and I felt a surge of excitement that quickly disappeared when I saw it was just dad and Josh. I let out a huff and continued to decorate my cookies I made all by myself. I smiled while adding yellow star sprinkles knowing they were Alex's favorite, yellow was our favorite color. "Lilly!" I suddenly heard as the front door flew open, I turned around and the biggest smile spread across my face as I jumped from my stool and ran to him to give a 'big bear hug' as he calls it. ~~~~~ 5 years later ~~~~~ Lillian-Marie's POV I looked into the mirror and stared back at my untamed curls with a look of sadness. That's what I get for not twisting my hair up the night before. I took my spray bottle and continued to untangle my luscious dark curls. In two days I will turn 16 and then I should shift and hopefully find my mate. Mom and dad mated in high school after being best friends since 4th grade. They were always inseparable. What makes me even more excited is that Alexander will have his alpha ceremony in just a week, it should have been tomorrow but since he knows I might meet my wolf in a few days he delayed the party he was hosting. I smiled at the thought of him being so generous. Half an hour passed before my hair looked somewhat decent, I tossed my comb on my vanity decided it looked good enough for school, plus I still had to get dressed. Going over to my closet I pulled out a pair of faded boyfriend jeans that had strategically placed holes and rips in them. My mom could never quite figure out why they would charge so much for something 'uncompleted' as she called them, I've told her it's art plenty of times but she always just shakes her head at me while smiling. I browsed through a few shirts, after a while I settled on a plain white crop top, pairing it with one of Alex's flannels, the red, black, and green one, the one he gave to me years ago due to high growth spurts over the years, he told me I could keep this one. I stopped growing at 5'2" but he's already at 6'1" and he's not even finished growing. I, however, stopped growing a year ago, he pokes fun at me all the time which just makes me blush like crazy, which is hard to make me do. I hurry and get dressed when I see my alarm clock read 6:45, if I'm going to walk to school then I need to get a move on. I grab a hair tie just in case the wind decided to betray me. I took a final look at the mirror and admired how I looked today, not that I was trying to look good for anyone but myself. My chocolate skin seemed to be glowing today, my curls tamed nicely and my hazel eyes had a special gleam to them this morning. I knew my wolf was coming soon and I couldn't be happier. I nearly skipped downstairs which wasn't out of the ordinary lately since almost everyone knew I should get my wolf soon. My bloodline was pretty consistent on discovering your wolf 16 years after you were born. I saw my mom with her back turned, she stood over the stove cooking bacon while humming softly. I wrap my arms around her to sneakily grab a few pieces of bacon while kissing her on the cheek. Mom is short like me, only a few inches taller so I didn't have to reach that far. "Lillian.." I hear her start but I just chuckle while running out the front door "No running in the house young lady!" she yells after me. I slow down until I'm comfortably walking on my way to school. I can't wait until high school is over. Josh finished school earlier this year, he is the same age as Alex. Thinking of Alex I haven't talked to him in a few days, I know he's busy with planning but I can't help feeling a little down seeing as I haven't even received a text from him. We don't go many days without talking and I think he was about to break a record. I haven't seen him since last summer when his family came over for a hunting weekend. I smile at the memories. ~~~~~ Flashback ~~~~~ 'My bed feels so cozy' I thought 'I won't have many more nights like this because the school would be starting soon, yay to being a junior!' I tossed a little bit throwing my arm over the side of the bed, I started to dose back off to sleep feeling I was drooling a bit but I didn't care, it's not like anyone bothers me in the morning during summer. Well except for training but now that I was older it was my responsibility to get my training for the day done. As much as my father was a big teddy bear he could be strict at certain times. As I was deep in thought I felt a tickle on my nose, I groaned and tried to ignore the itch hoping it would go away soon, I really didn't want to move. The tickle came back and this time my hand shot up to itch and relieve myself, however, I managed to fill my nose with whip cream. My eyes shot open and I heard him giving a deep laugh that secretly made my heart jump twice. I would know his laugh even if he was miles away. I slowly rose up while keeping my comforter close to my body. No matter how asleep I was, my mind wouldn't let me forget I'm simply in short shorts and I see-through t-shirt. "Alexander," I growled. No normal person would have spoken to a future alpha like that. But this was my Alex. "'I'm gonna kill you!" I pout. He sends me a smile that makes my heart melt for a second but, I mean I couldn't help it he was absolutely gorgeous. He stood at 6'1" and had the cutest freckles all over his tan body. I couldn't see them now, but I knew how muscular he was. His eyes were captivating, pools of green that would make any girl drool. He had slightly bushy eyebrows with his dark locks falling halfway down his forehead, framing his face perfectly. He looked at me mischievously, like he could read my mind. I quickly looked down and felt a blush come over me,... I was suddenly very hot. Clearing my throat "Alex do you mind me getting dressed then we can go for a run?" I asked sounding shyer than I would have liked to be. He seemed to realize I might not have been dressed so decently and then his cheeks started getting red but he still shot me a smirk. " Well do hurry up, I'm only gonna be here a few days and I don't want my best friend sleeping the days away!" He said playfully as he was opening the door, he turned to give me one more look and chuckled at the sight of whip cream all over my mouth and nose. I let out a sigh of embarrassment which is quickly replaced with a small smile. Jumping out of bed I dart to my very own bathroom, I am a young woman after all. After taking a quick shower and brushing my teeth I open my closet and pull out a cute olive color running set. These leggings hugged all my curves perfectly, the sports bra was cute too and provided just the right amount of support. The jacket that came with was perfect to cover some of my torso. Usually, I wouldn't mind just wearing my sports bra around Alex but recently it just feels different. Seeing that it was now 10:30 I ran down the stairs to Alex and my mother chatting and laughing while drinking a cup of coffee. He was dressed in basketball shorts and a shirt that had the sides cut out, perfectly showing his muscular sides. I smiled as to hide my embarrassment to think of Alex like that. When we made eye contact he smiled brightly at me. "Ready sleepyhead," he said while grinning and bringing his mug to the sink. "Of course," I said while walking to door, Alex was right behind me. As soon as we stepped outside I was engulfed into a hug and I quickly buried my head in his chest, taking in his scent. The hug ended way earlier than I would have liked and he ruffled my already somewhat crazy hair. "Why don't we run for 3-5 miles today then we can go get ice cream?" He said while we started walking toward the community trail. "You bet," I said while starting to jog. This was common for us, just being in each other's presence felt so comfortable, like I was home.
