Emily I watched Ayla walk down the hallway and through the kitchen door. Something glistened on her hand, filling me with curiosity, as she had come out of the room Lionel had been in. Since she returned from the chamber, something had changed about her aura. I still couldn’t place her scent, but it felt like the experience and the days she had spent here had transformed her. She was a lot different from the almost timid woman who walked through the city gates. I followed her closely, intrigued by the jewellery on her wrist that glistened in the light.
