  Hours after the sovereign came to an end, a sleek black Range Rover rolled to a quiet stop in front of Mirena’s house, its engine purred softly before falling into silence.   Inside, Logan didn’t turn the engine off immediately. Instead, he glanced sideways.   Mirena was fast asleep in the passenger seat, her head tilted slightly toward the window, lashes resting against her cheeks.   The streetlight outside cast a soft glow over her face, smoothing away the sharp edges she carried so fiercely when awake.   For a moment, she looked younger. Lighter.
