Obsessions

I sat comfortably in my therapist’s office trying my best to calm my brewing anger. It had been seven years since he left and the mere mention of his existence triggered the beast in me. Controlling the shift wasn't easy and on every full moon I was forced shift to avoid mass massacres. Jason didn't understand and neither did Valeria but she recommended the Doctor anyways. They had no clue what had ignited my fury and I had no intention of letting them know. I had her use magic calm my beast but it didn't work, the magic was diverted to her somehow and it almost killed her, I hoped it had, it would have been the most merciful deed fate could ever bestow on the likes of her. The doctor knew not what he was dealing and almost had a heart attack when I shifted in front of him. I had been so close to ripping his head from his shoulders but for a reason unbeknownst to me I did not. I remembered the day vividly, it wouldn't be unfair to say I hadn't warned him but he pressed matter nonetheless. Apparently exploiting their weaknesses is what helps humans overcome their problems, utter bullshit if you ask me. I turned to Marcus who hadn't said anything since I came in. He watched me curiously and seemingly lost in thought. “If you like what you see you might as well ask me out on a date, you can see as much as you want after I've filled my stomach.” I said causing him to avert his gaze looking annoyed. Although he had been afraid of me for months we ended up becoming good friends. “Why are you here?” he asked. “To make a show of your handsome face.” I replied sarcastically. He was a handsome man. His hazel gaze shone with wisdom and maturity, plump lips fit to kiss and brown hair styled to perfection. His broad shoulders were always squared, his chest puffed out and at six foot nine he stood with the poise of a prince. His jaw was as sharp as his wit and he spoke fluidly. Why he wasted his time listening to the trivial problems of equally trivial humans was beyond me. “Other than that?” he questioned. I paused annoyed he wouldn't snap back with an even wittier remark. “What compelled you to become a psychologist?” I asked. “People like you.” He said with his signature eyebrow raise. “I'll take that as a compliment.” I stated. “See what I mean?” I rolled my eyes at him. Before I could say anything there was a knock at the door. The receptionist slowly opened the door and spoke “Ms McCoy is here to see you.” She said. “Isn't that your ex-wife?” I chimed. “Does she have an appointment?” he asked ignoring my remark. “No, sir, but she said it's urgent.” “I'm busy.” “Let her in.” We said in unison. He glared at me like I had stolen his most expensive watch. The receptionist nodded before walking out and closing the door behind her. “What's your problem?” Marcus demanded but I paid no attention to him. “Dr Jones has a patient in.” He receptionist said. “I need to see him right now, his patient can wait.” The woman said nervously. “I’m sorry but I can't let you through.” “If you like your job so much you'd step out of the way.” She threatened her sweet voice taking a sharp edge. “Miss...” “Get out of my way.” She said and with the sound of something banging and a light moan from the receptionist, the noise of her heels could be heard. I stood up from my sit and stalked towards Marcus while taking of my shirt. I tossed it on the floor much to his horror. “What are you doing?” “Helping. Now shut up and kiss me.” I said straddling him. He hesitated for a moment but to my surprise when the sound of the door opening came he wrapped his arms around and roughly pulled me to himself. He smashed his soft lips on mine. I smiled into the kiss when the annoying voice of Raina McCoy shrieked. We both turned to her and my cheeks burned. It wasn't her judgemental stare but taste of Marcus’ lips on mine. The warmth of his body and the heat pooling in my lower abdomen. I made no move to get up from my position on his lap and he didn't seem at all bothered. “I see you're busy.” She said bitterly. “Sleeping with your patient, really Marcus?” Tears pooled in her eyes, they were more of anger than anything. This had been going on for months now, she would come here and cause trouble. He'd promise to talk later so she'd leave and even when he made good on his promise, only for her to returned the next week. She didn't want to lose him, not because she loved him but because their divorce caused her to lose her so called friends and her start up plummeted. The possessiveness in her eyes annoyed me. She was so obsessed with him I worried she might go to great lengths to have him but I'd have her head on a spike before I allow her to trap him. I climbed off his lap not bothering to put on my shirt. “I'm not his patient.” I said crossing my arms. “Raven-" “Then why are you here?” she asked frowning. “You, my dear, are slow minded.” I chuckled. “Excuse me?” “You're quite excused.” I said. “Marcus, you're going to let this low life talk to me in such a manner.” “What I'm not going to allow is for you to speak about her like that.” He said frowning. I merely hoped he was enjoying this as much as I was. It wasn't everyday that I, Raven Blake, indulged in such petty issues. “Marcus-" “What's so important that you had to come all this way?” he cut her of. “It's Reagan, he got hurt at school and needs his father but you weren't picking your phone.” Her heart beat fluttered. I turned to him, his face went pale and he stood up immediately. “She's lying.” I couldn't help it. The words slipped out before I could stop myself. They both turned to me, he, with a conflicted look and her with a look of pure hatred. “Shut up b***h. You have no right to intervene in our family issues, much less accuse me of lying about my own son." I stepped forward eyes flashing. This woman had some nerve. “Raven.” Marcus called his voice laced with panic. I grabbed my shirt which was on the carpeted floor and put it on before sitting on the armchair he once occupied. “I'll come visit him later toady.” He said. She made to say something but he raised his palm to silence her. “If you come back here to cause trouble again you'll have to answer to the authorities.” He said. She sent me a nasty look before leaving in a huff. “You shouldn't have done that.” “Done what exactly?” I chuckled. Things had escalated faster than I had originally anticipated. He sighed heavily. “Look on the bright side, she'll no longer make trouble you and if I were you I'd go pick up that cute boy before she hurts him for proof.” I said. If she could lie about it there's no doubt she'd actually do it. He stared at me for a long moment before grabbing his keys and rushing out. I followed after him. “Cancel all my appointments for to today.” He said to the receptionist who nodded stiffly. I let him leave and stayed behind with the receptionist who looked like she'd pass out any moment. “What happened?” I asked. “That woman needs to be admitted.” She grumbled. “I completely agree.” I snigger. “Since you have the day off now, why don't you leave?” I asked. “I have to cancel appointments and close up first.” she said watery eyes turning to her computer screen. “Oh." I took hold of her hand and absorbed her pain. I knew she'd been pushed into the desk earlier even if she tried to hide it. “Thank you.” “I'm in a good mood today, you're lucky.” I laughed before making my way out. She was a werewolf and without a pack. Although she managed on her own I wanted her to join my pack, it was my instinct to make her a member, she had to belong to my pack. She had refused but I'd leave her no choice. “Where have you been?” Jason questioned as soon as I enter the study. “I don't recall having to report my whereabouts to you." “Have you any idea what happened at the church?” “No but I'm guessing it's nothing good.” “Go see for yourself.” He clipped before walking out. I sighed in annoyance, the full moon was nearing which did nothing to ease my worries. Seven years ago when I took back control of the capital, I found that the witches had supressed the werewolves. They could not shift even on full moons but when the moon is out the beast will want out too. This oppression drove some of the younger ones who had triggered their curse to insanity. The vampires had considerably decreased in population while the cats fled to the south. This ruined my original plan but all I had to do was make a few deals to regain full control. Since then the witches have been fighting to redeem them selves so I gave them a taste of their own magic. They were not allow to used their witchery in the capital expect work on reversing their curse on my pack. If they did, they would be executed. The humans felt the shift in power. No vampire was allowed to fed of locals and no humans is the forest, simple as that. The familiars weren't happy but one wild animal attack kept them away easily.
