I melted at the way he called me sweetheart.
Sweetheart.
The word wrapped around me so softly that for a second, I forgot who he was. Forgot the Ravencrest name. Forgot the danger. Forgot every warning screaming in my head.
Impossible. Maybe it was just the mating bond again.
Still... hearing him admit he wanted me sent warmth blooming through my chest so fast it almost hurt.
A strange kind of happiness settled inside me, dangerous and addictive, making me want to stay in this moment with him a little longer.
