“Absolutely not,” She chuckled mockingly.
“Don’t believe me?” She said, crossing her arms “Then watch me.” She added, slamming the door right behind me.
My heart pounded, and my mother would be so upset and disappointed. “Valerie,” I called out, running after her.
“You were going to force her into a contract marriage?” I heard my mother say slowly, just as I got into the living room.
“Like your father did to me huh? I thought you said you would be different. You promised you’d be a better man. How’s that going?” My mother lashed at me.
