“Just let him be, dear. He’s not worth your energy,” my mother said softly. I stopped pacing. “Mother... I’m sorry to say this, but I can’t do what you are asking of me. That man is begging for fire, and trust me, I’m ready to burn him with it.”
I shook my head, biting down on the inside of my cheek. “It’s insane, yeah, and it’s extremely annoying too. You won’t get it. This right here... is an insult.” I felt a sharp breath exit my chest as I blinked twice, slowly, like it would somehow help me hold the rage down. My hand went to the back of my neck, gradually rubbing it as if that would calm the intense heat which had been crawling up my skin. “This is a damn insult, Mother. I own the company.
