[Venessa's House ~ Morning]
"Dylan, I hope this is all a dream. You canceled our wedding for Rachel. I hope I wake up from this nightmare because my heart can't take it," Tehila muttered, with tears in her eyes.
"Tehila!" Dylan called, but she held up her hand, stopping him from saying any further.
"Save it. I don't want to hear it," Tehila sniffed.
"Tehila!"
"I said I don't want to hear it!" Tehila snapped.
A sudden hand on her shoulder pulled her back, making her jolt.
Tehila's eyes parted slowly, opening and closing, adjusting to the brightness of the room.
"You dead ass?" Venessa questioned.
Tehila rolled over, her palm blocking the sunlight from penetrating her eyes.
"The window," she groaned.
Venessa went to close the window and came back to the bed. She settled on the bed beside Tehila.
They sat in total silence for the first few seconds before Venessa spoke.
"You wanna tell me what's going on?" Venessa said, glancing at Tehila from head to toe.
"Tell you what," Tehila asked.
Her eyes followed Venessa's gaze down her body.
"Oh s**t!" She sprang up from the bed. "Good mother Mary," Tehila murmured.
"So, you ready to tell me why you're wearing a wedding dress? And why is the bed wet?" Venessa asked.
Tehila let out a sigh.
"It's a long story," she said, sitting back on the bed.
"Well, cut it short. You know I'm always down for the tea," Venessa insisted.
Tehila exhaled. She turned to glance at Venessa; their gazes met, and she looked away.
"I am waiting," Venessa announced.
Tehila rolled her eyes, hiding her face in her palm before glancing up.
"I was a bride," Tehila broke the news.
"So," Venessa raised an eyebrow at her.
Tehila turned to face her.
"I was a bride," Tehila repeated.
"b***h, I can see that, you're wearing a motherfucking wedding dress," Venessa said.
"I hate you," Tehila replied.
"I love you too, right after you spill that tea," Venessa insisted.
"Aren't we supposed to be at work?" Tehila questioned.
"It's Sunday," Venessa replied.
"Fine!" Tehila gave in.
"The guy I told you I was seeing—" she sighed, "—well, he proposed two weeks ago, so yesterday was supposed to be our wedding day, but he canceled it five minutes before I walked down the aisle," Tehila added, tears forming in her eyes.
"Wow, why?" Venessa asked, her eyebrows twisting into a knot.
"His adopted sister had an accident, so he left to take her to the hospital," Tehila burst into tears.
"Girl," Venessa stood up and dropped down beside Tehila, pulling her into an embrace.
"Don't waste your tears on useless men. You told me this yourself," Venessa said, rubbing Tehila's shoulder.
"I can't help it, I loved him," Tehila sobbed.
"I know. It's okay to love somebody and get betrayed, it happens all the time," Venessa kissed the top of her forehead.
"His brother and mother, even his sister-in-law, were there. Any of them could have gone, but he went — he always puts her above me," Tehila cried harder.
"Now I want to smash his head on a table, he left a diamond for a gem," Venessa said.
"Cry now, you'll get over him. After, we'll go eat noodles," Venessa promised.
Tehila nodded.
"I am going to get my things from his house, today," Tehila announced, wiping her tears.
"I'll go with you," Venessa insisted.
"No, don't bother. You're crazier than I am, I don't want a scene," Tehila said.
They both glanced at each other and burst into short laughter.
"This guy — do I know him? And where were you last night?" Venessa asked.
Tehila nodded.
"Dylan Copper," Tehila answered.
Venessa raised an eyebrow, trying to remember where she'd heard the name, then it clicked.
"Wait, Dylan Copper! From our department! The f**k," Venessa asked in shock.
"I'll be in the bathroom," Tehila escaped, before the conversation could escalate.
"I'm sure, dead ass, you did not
— eww!" Venessa cringed.
"I know, b***h, don't make it worse," Tehila yelled from the bathroom.
"I am pissed."
