I couldn’t sleep last night. I kept turning and tossing the entire night, unable to sleep. I had only managed to doze off before the c***k of dawn. I was disoriented when I woke up. I was still too tired to function and just wanted to dive back in.
“You are finally awake,” I heard a voice say from across the room.
I scratched my eyes, chasing the sleep away. Pausing my hand movement.
Wait… a voice? Who the f**k is in my room?
I turned to where it came from. I was met with the sight of a toned, muscular back.
“Who are you and what are you doing in my room?” I yelled at them, drawing the sheets closer to myself, trying to create some kind of protection.
Then he turned, giving a look from over his shoulder.
Kai.
That was Kai’s back.
I blushed as he pulled a shirt over his head, disrupting my view of his gorgeous body. He took off his towel and I closed my eyes to give him some privacy.
My hands were grabbed, removing them from my face. I was met with the sight of a beautiful pair of sea-green eyes.
“Are you okay?” He asked, concern evident in his tone. His hand brushed the hair out of my face.
“Yes, I am fine.” I squeaked out. “I was just disoriented regarding where I was.” His hand was still on my hair, smoothing it down before he dropped it onto his lap and fixed me with a blank stare.
“That’s good,” he spoke after a moment of silence. He then moved, creating a bit of space between the two of us. I pulled my lips at that but swallowed whatever comment I had to say.
“I brought food for you.” He reached for his bedside locker. “It should still be warm. It was after my class.” He placed a takeout bag in front of me.
At the smell of food my stomach started rumbling. I didn’t know a day would come when I would abandon all social grace and behave in such an uncouth manner. Maybe father was right about my etiquette skills.
It was just a simple breakfast wrap but it felt like heaven. I almost moaned from the taste.
Kai placed his hand on my cheek. I stared up at him mid-chew. His thumb wiped away what I would assume was a stray crumb from my jaw. I stared into his eyes as they held me in place, never straying away.
“I really want to kiss you,” he whispered, more so to himself than me.
I swallowed the food in my mouth, giving him a dumbfounded expression.
He just covered it up with a cough. “Excuse me. Continue eating.” He said, standing up, walking toward the desk in his room, taking a seat and playing on his phone.
I finished eating in an awkward silence, throwing the wrapper away after. I took a sip of the drink he brought for me.
“Can we continue the conversation from last night?” I paused, straw still in my mouth.
The images from last night’s dream still fresh in my mind.
“What about it do you want to talk about?” I asked, taking a seat back on the bed and facing him.
“First of all, how does it happen? Do you just see it or do the visions just come to you like an image?” He fired the questions at me while I sat in silence.
I wrapped my hands together around the cup, trying to think of a more logical and sane way to explain the weird psychic power of mine.
“Well… I don’t know,” I admitted.
“You don’t know?” He asked in confusion, repeating what I had said.
“Yes. I don’t know. I don’t really know how my powers work.” I answered. “One minute I could be seated or doing something else entirely. The next I would be seeing events that had never happened or things that will happen.”
“That time you fainted at the locker room,” he asked, reminding me of that day.
“Yes. That day I had a vision too,” I answered honestly.
“What was it about?” He asked, curiosity laced in his voice, but he tried to hide it.
I looked at the drink in my hand. How do I tell him what that vision was?
He already knows, so what good is hiding it from him?
“It’s about you,” I voiced out.
“Me?”
“Yes.” I nodded. “It was a vision of Northridge’s hockey team led by my ex, Damon. They were planning on attacking you in the next game you will have together. They want to put you out of ‘commission’ because you are a risk to Damon’s prospect of being named national hockey champion. He was mad about them not focusing on you.” I air-quoted the words.
We sat in silence for a bit. I thought he wouldn’t believe me.
“Was that why they were purposely targeting Theo during the last game?” I blushed, remembering that. He raised an eyebrow at me in question.
“That was my fault. I tricked them into focusing on Winchester to prove a hypothesis.” I looked away.
“Thanks… even though you put Theo’s career on the line like that. Just don’t do it again.” He turned to face me. His face was serious as he laid down his command. I nodded at his words.
“Damon.” He called out his name. “He is responsible for the attempt on me yesterday, isn’t he?” It wasn’t a question. More or less a statement that needed confirmation.
“Yes.” He just nodded, already accepting the answer.
“Did you have any visions recently?” He asked.
His question brought back the one from yesterday. The one with his mom. Her going to prison.
How should I tell him I saw a vision where I am the one responsible for throwing his mother in jail for a crime I don’t know she committed yet, but it’s linked to Damon and Rozetta?
I just have to make do…
“No. The last vision I had was last night. The one I used to help save your life,” I replied.
He looked at me for an agonising minute, trying to gauge if I was lying or not. I just stared at him just as much, trying to decipher his own thoughts.
He just nodded in acceptance of what I said. “Very well. If you have any more visions from now on, please share them with me.” He spoke earnestly, but it felt like he didn’t fully believe a word I said.
…For now.
I will just have to do my own personal research on Katherine Draven and what her connection is to those people.
While keeping it a secret from him for the time being.
