My phone calendar popped up with a reminder: Eve & Seb’s Wedding Anniversary ❤️.
Apparently, neither Sebastian nor I had taken this date seriously enough to remember it on our own, because neither of us had mentioned it all day, even though we had only been married for two years and yet somehow, whatever we once had already felt… faded.
I stared at the little heart icon on the screen and suddenly found it almost laughable, as if it belonged to a version of us that no longer existed, and after a brief pause, I deleted the reminder without hesitation, deciding that I didn’t need a yearly notification just to feel uncomfortable on the same date again.
