Chapter 15: The Eviction Notice Is Received With Extreme Prejudice

1335 Words
Todd shook his head sadly. He looked at his father and said, "I wish that we could run away. There are things that cannot be avoided, though. We cannot escape. What is more; I have a reason to not leave." Todd thought about Eve. When he had been at the lowest point in his previous life, she had taken care of him. Thus, he felt like he had a responsibility to keep her safe.  When Aaron saw the firm expression on his son’s face, he knew that he could not change his mind. "Damn it!” he exclaimed. “If you are not worried about your mother's safety, then I will stay with you, and we will fight the evil Asian monk together. Then, if they take D.S.G. Unlimited, I can take it back. You may not know this, but I am a genius when it comes to mergers and acquisitions!”   "Come on, genius dad!” Todd chuckled and said, “Don't worry about me. Take mom to Europe. Have a good time. You both deserve it! Let your son do the physical work – like fighting – for once.” Because Todd had a Pretentious system hidden in his mind, plus his previous life’s experience, he passionately believed that there was nothing that he could not do in this life! "Okay!" Aaron patted his son on the shoulder. There was something different about Todd, and it made him feel like it was safe to leave their family’s future in his hands. Todd's parents made a reservation for the early morning flight. They would arrive in Europe in the evening, and they would stay in a local hotel for one night. Then, when they woke up the next day, they would start their new life. The whole family cherished their last few hours together, and they talked about many topics that they had never mentioned to each other before. Then, before they went to bed, Aaron signed the papers that his son had prepared for him.   ***   After Todd put his parents on the plane, he went home to sleep, and by the time that he woke up, it was already dawn. Now that he was awake, the first thing that he did was check his phone, and sure enough, he had received a text from his father. His parents had arrived safely in Europe. Todd went to the window, opened the curtains, and looked at the neatly manicured landscape. Today was his eighteenth birthday. It did not feel like a birthday, but he took comfort in knowing that it would be nothing like his previous eighteenth birthday. On the same day in his previous life, Jarod had annexed D.S.G. Unlimited, and then he had framed his father. Now, Jarod was dead. Unfortunately, the evil Asian monk was not dead. For the moment, though, Todd put that out of his mind. He leisurely fried himself three eggs and four sausages links. Then he poured himself a glass of milk and sat on the floor with his breakfast. Todd was about halfway through his meal when a man burst through the front door. He shouted, "Aaron! You need to get out of here! You are not safe!” He continued to shout, but no one answered. So, he left. Minutes later, a gang arrived, and they began to search the house. One of the men was the boss, and the other was his healers. It was not long before the healers found Todd, and they called their boss over: "Hey, Boss! We found that bum’s son. We’re in the kitchen!" A minute later, their boss appeared, and when he saw Todd calmly eating on the floor, he frowned. “I am surprised to see you eating eggs and sausages," he said. “This is not what I expected…” Todd ignored him and continued to eat. In his previous life, when he was living on the streets, every meal was precious. Now, even though the food was plentiful, he had a newfound respect for it, and he was unwilling to waste any unless he absolutely had to. Finally, he finished his meal. Then, he put down the plate, knife, and fork, wiped his hands, and said, "Well, then; we were both surprised. I didn't expect a see a talking turd." The man froze. “Motherfucker!” he hissed. His face turned red from anger, and he thought about why he had come here. “How dare you call me a turd?!?!” When Todd did not reply, he slapped a document on the table and pushed it so that it slid off the opposite edge and landed in front of Todd. Instead of looking at it, though, Todd kept his eyes firmly locked on the intruder.   Because of his memories from his previous life, Todd knew that these documents were the I.O.U.s and share transfers that had been written by Jarod. He had used Tame Head to coerce his father into signing them. These people's purpose was to force Aaron to pay off the debt. Of course, such a huge debt could not be paid off. In his previous life, Todd's father had gone to jail because of this. However, in this life, Todd's parents had gone to Europe, and history would not repeat itself. Todd did not even look at the document, and this infuriated the man. "This is the debt your dad owes!” he shouted. “Where is he now? Is he afraid to come out and confront us?” "Don't waste your time,” Todd replied. “My parents have gone abroad." “Whatever!” the man growled. “You may serve in his stead. Seal up the villa and get out. You no longer live here!" Todd snorted. “As if. You cannot make me leave.” The man nodded to his men and they immediately rushed towards Todd. The thugs had strong physiques, and their weight alone could have crushed Todd. Luckily, he was not the weakling that he had been in his previous life. The Proficient fighting skills that he had gotten from the Pretentious system allowed him to react much faster than ordinary people, and he was at least ten times stronger than he had been in his previous life. Todd avoided their attack by turning sideways, and then he stretched out one foot. The two brawny men that had leaped at him hit the wall like birds hitting the glass, and they lost consciousness as they fell. When they hit the ground, Todd took note of the blood coming out of their heads. There was a lot of it. The man grimaced and said, "Very well, not only did you not pay back the money, but you have now physically assaulted by men.” He turned to some of his other men and said, “Go and tie him up. Then you can take him to the police station!"  The boss had been secretly delighted when Todd hit someone. The instructions given to him by his superior had been to drive Todd's family out and confiscate their assets with as little force as possible, but Todd had made it easy for him to escalate the situation. Of course, these men were just pawns. They had no idea that Todd had been set up. They believed what they had been told, which was that Aaron had not paid his debts and that they were well within their rights to confiscate his property. From their point of view, Todd's violent resistance was illegal, and it was their duty to take him to the police station. The boss smiled as his men approached Todd, but his grin turned quickly to a frown as they were – one by one – taken out, and within a matter of minutes, they were all lying, incapacitated, on the ground.  Once the last goon was taken care of, Todd approached the boss.
