Episode 2 Back in the bedroom, Nathan took off his pants and shirt, tossed them aside on the sofa and laid on the bed excitedly. He couldn't remember the last time he had genuine fun or made love to the woman he loved. Marrying Ellie had been the worst mistake of his life, but he knew he had to do it because he was desperate to take over ownership of the companies from his father, and Ellie was the only reasonable option at the time. To take over the companies, he needed to be engaged and married. But few weeks later, his first love miraculously reappeared into his life, and now, they would be getting back together. The bathroom door swung open, and Caroline stepped out, wrapped in a white towel, dripping with warm water. Nathan sat up, surveying Caroline as she approached the bed. He felt an exciting jolt in his groin, and groaned with a growing pleasure. He could hardly wait for her to get to him. Just midway to the bed, Caroline stopped, and took a reverse towards the closet. "Let's see what I can fit in," she drawled, throwing open thr closet doors. Nathan stared at her, and blinked. "Come to daddy, my love. Do you know how much I've missed you?" He muttered softly. Caroline stopped, and turned to look at him. "You're not divorced yet, Nathan. Doing anything with me right now is going to be wrong. We need to wait until you're divorced. Don't you think so?" Nathan gritted his teeth, and pressed his knees together, hiding his stubborn erection. Goddamn that woman. Why must she always be the cause of his misfortune? Disgruntled, he stood up, walked straight to his drawer and picked up his cellphone. He dialled a line, abd it got connected after a few rings. "Good evening, Mr. McGregor.", a calm male voice greeted. "There's nothing good about the evening, Attorney. I want you here tomorrow as soon as possible. I want the divorce process to begin. I already told her the papers are ready, and I know they are not. I want them ready as soon as possible." "I'm working on it, Mr. McGregor. I will let you know." Nathan dropped the call, and turned to face Caroline. "You just heard that, didn't you? This is no joke. I want to be with you." "I know, Nathan," Caroline replied. She took out one of Nathan's shirt, dressed into it before walking back to the bed. "I know you want to be with me alone, but let's do it the right way. Hm? I love you." She whispered, and kissed him softly on the lips. "Won't you like to eat something? You can go down, and get yourself something." Nathan replied. "Oh, sure." Caroline mumbled, smiled and left the room. Nathan cursed as he watched her leave the room, and breathed hard. He wanted her badly. He needed to recollect how wonderful she tasted. They had dated back in college, but they had s*x just a few number of times before Caroline left the country. His cellphone started to ring, interrupting his thoughts. He glanced down at the screen, and hesitated before connecting the line. "I don't remember telling you that you could call me so late in the night," Nathan barked into the receiver, his eyes glowing with a sudden fury. A shrill cold laughter rang from the other side of the line. " It's amazing... hearing that fear in your voice." "Don't be ridiculous, man. You of all people should know that I'm bigger than any obstacle that may come my way. Don't forget who I am, Nathan McGregor, the only heir to the McGregor companies which you know too well." The man on the line cleared his throat, and continued, "I liked that you followed my terms and you've already gotten to work. I heard you already called your lawyer..." "Are you spying on me, you mother fucker?" Nathan interrupted angrily, his knuckles whitening as he cleched them tightly. "Just keeping tabs on you just in case you decide to do something that is out of line. But you've been a good boy so far, boss. I want it over with before this month runs out. I'm highly very impatient when it comes to things like this." A shocked smile played across Nathan's lips as he listened to the voice from the other end. He laughed briefly, and shook his head. "You're playing with fire, do you know that?" "I don't think this is the best time to threaten me, Mr. McGregor. Need I remind you that I have things that could bring down the good name of the mighty McGregor?" Nathan paced at the center of the room, the look in his eyes growing impatient. "I promise you this, Augustine, this might end very bad for you. Delete any f*****g thing you have on me, I already did what you f*****g want me to do." "Hey, easy with the curses, boss. You and I know it's what you've always wanted to do, right? You never loved her." Nathan paused for a while, and nodded. "You are absolutely right about that. You helped me to end this, I think I owe you an appreciation. Get the f**k out of my cell." Nathan ended the call, and tossed the cellphone on the bed. Agitated, he reached out for the half bottle of whiskey on the bedstand, and gulped down some of the content. He wiped off his lips in annoyance, and replaced the bottle. "I will make you regret this, Augustine. You will never know know what hit you." Nathan swore under his breath. ************* Outside the door, Ellie stood, lips parted in shock and confusion. She'd listened to the conversation right from where Nathan had connected the line. She didn't get to hear what the caller was saying, but she'd heard everything Nathan had said, and she couldn't stop wondering what the discussion was all about. But she had the strongest feeling that it was about her. **************** "f*****g hell" Nathan cursed under his breath at the hammering headache gracing his skull. He had just got into the office, but he was already having a bad day. The door opened, revealing Bryan Reeve by the doorway. He was dark haired and tall, almost as huge as Nathan. They had been best friends since college. Bryan was the only friend of Nathan's who had stuck stubbornly to his gun and remained friends despite the grumpiness and cold attitude. "Can I come in?" He asked with a small smile on his face. Nathan only glared at him with a scowl on his face, and continued muttering his curses. "I feel like s**t right now," Nathan fired hotly as Bryan took a seat across the large desk. "When are you going to stop being this way, Nathan?" Nathan raised his fierce looking eyes, settling them on his friend. "What does that mean? How do you expect me to feel when the people around me are full of incompetency?" "Oh, wow. That includes me, right?" Nathan paused, and sighed irritably. He ran a palm over his head, and glared at his friend. "I want the list of people working at the Dawton estate branch as soon as possible. There's someone I must take out." Bryan stopped to look at him, and frowned slightly. "And...what do you need that for? I thought you put a president in charge." "I need this discreetly, you dummy. There's someone I need to be extra sure is no longer in the company." Nathan retorted. "And who's that?" "Augustine Simpson." Nathan replied. "What? Why? Why would you wanna take out Ellie's father?" "And why do you think I'm suddenly divorcing Ellie? That old bastard is blackmailing me with something huge." Nathan retorted, and banged his fist hard on the table. Bryan moved forward in his chair, becoming more confused than before. "I don't get it, Nathan. What's happening? You've never really loved Ellie, so I thought you got tired and decided to end it..." "I would never wanna end it with someone who tolerates all my excesses and loves me despite how much I ignore her. Do you know how much this woman cares for me? "She wakes up every morning to make me breakfast, she picks out my outfit for the day, and whenever I come home in the night, my dinner is always ready! For goodness sake, why would I want to do away with such a lady who loves me with the last drop of her blood!" Nathan looked frustrated, his voice hardening with every word. Bryan stared on at his friend, taken aback by his outburst. All these while, he liked the attention and care he got from his wife, but he always acted as though he didn't want her in his life. "What exactly does he have on you that has got you like this?" Bryan asked after a while. Nathan settled his gaze on him, and breathed in. "It's something huge enough to bring down the whole of the McGregor empire. I don't know how he got his hands on the information, but I surely must find out."
