Amara’s POV It was pitch black; I was sitting on the floor holding my knees tightly to my chest, my arms wrapped tightly around myself as the images of what led me here flashed in my mind. The last thing I remembered was Lucille forcing me to sleep so I knew I must have been in my subconscious. Two pairs of glowing yellow eyes shot open in the dark. She didn’t know how to feel about them as they watched her with interest, they intimidated her, but she wasn’t afraid of them. “Hello?” she spoke to them. It was unnerving how they blinked in synchronization just watching her. “We know where you are now sister” they spoke in synchronization as well. Their voices were soft but held an authority equal to that of the kings. “Sister? What do you mean? I’m an orphan. Hello?” “We’ll see you soon” was all they said before leaving me to the darkness. Ben’s POV I shielded Amara with my body as much as I could as I jogged to the mansion, I noticed people being drawn to the wreckage murmuring about what happened and who was responsible. I felt very overprotective of Amara in her vulnerable state and not wanting to be stopped by anyone, I started running faster. Finally arriving at the steps leading up to her room I breathed a sigh of relief as I opened the door and kicked it shut with my foot. I walked over to her bed and laid her down gently on top of the covers. I brushed her hair out of her face. She looked as if she were sleeping peacefully. Pulling up the soft chair she had at her vanity I sat down next to her thinking about everything that had happened the past few days. First, I find out Amara, my adopted sister was my mate, now after 20 years of knowing her as a human, we find out she may actually be far more powerful than all of us. I sighed resting my face in my hands, mind linking an omega to bring me some clothes from my room I decided that I should shower while I waited for her to wake. A knock on the door broke me from my thoughts. Getting up I find the things I asked for folded neatly sitting in front of the door, along with a tray of food and a pitcher of water. Mother must have asked her to bring me something I thought as I set the tray down on the vanity and walked into the bathroom. I’d eat after my shower, even if I had no appetite. I showered quickly not wanting to have my eyes off Amara for too long, and got dressed still half wet, not bothering to dry my hair as it dripped all over the floor. I grabbed the sandwich and a glass of water. I put the tray with the now clean plate just outside the door for the omegas to clean up, keeping the water for later and I watched Amara’s chest go up and down as I settled back into the chair next to Amara’s bedside. I must have dozed off because I was startled awake by Sarah and Sally burst into the room running over to Amara, followed closely by Nico, mom, dad, the witch, and a man who looked exactly like her. “what’s going on?” I asked cautiously observing the witch and the man, who I could only assume based on the similarities between them, was her brother. “Lucille and her brother Marshal, have things we need to discuss” Mother said sitting on the end of Amara’s bed, placing her hand on Amara’s leg for comfort. Father stood in the corner of the room with his hands folded behind his back watching her as she slept. The twins were on either side of her holding her hands and Nico sat calmly next to mother. I don’t know how much he knew about what had happened. Hmhmm we all turned to see the male witch Marshal, clearing his throat, his shiter standing next to him. “I think I know what she is” he began. “You think? This isn’t a guessing game” I growled out He looked at me with wide eyes, I don’t think he’s had much experience with wolves and Lycans before. He looked at Lucille who nodded at him to go on before looking back at me. “Well, unfortunately that’s all I can do right now.” He started “I think, your daughter may be elemental, but they are extinct” he said, “If they’re extinct how can Amara be one?” Sarah asked him softly. “From what I’ve translated, Elementals, like all of us, are children of the moon goddess but unlike us, the moon goddess actually birthed the first elementals, rather than created them” there was a look of shock around the room at this “These creatures were extremely powerful and had control of all the elements. The moon goddess birthed four children, two boys and two girls. These babies were all different races so that they could bring these races together in times of strife. One was a werewolf or Lycan, one a witch, one a shifter and one a human, each gifted a unique gold item with a different colored stone in the centre, red, yellow, green, and white.” He looked at us asking us with his eyes if he should continue, my mother nodded at him to go on “the moon goddess, leaves these elementals as babies to found and raised. Every few hundred years, the moon Goddess re-births these exact babies. The only difference was after the first time, she didn’t make any of them human again, I can’t find specifics on why yet. On an elemental’s 20’th birthday they begin manifesting their powers. They will become uncontrollable if they are not taken to Cern, their father to be trained and undergo a ritual to help them control these powers and remember their past lives. It is even more dangerous if these creatures find their mates. If this were to happen, the powers would become too great for the creatures body to handle, and without the ritual performed by Cern to slow the progression of said powers, they would begin to deteriorate. The first signs of this would be exhaustion.” Mother inhaled in panic, gripping Amara’s leg harder. Marshal looked at her briefly before looking back down at the book and continuing. “The body would begin to show signs of deterioration through bruising, and paling of the skin, bags under the eyes and weight loss. It doesn’t matter how much they would sleep or eat; the body would still break down. Then irritability, aggression, delusions, and death.” He finished sighing and looking at Amara with sadness. Mother was silently crying. Shocked at the revelation I realized she was already showing at least one sign of deterioration, “How do we find Cern Marshal?” I asked him with urgency “I don’t know, I either haven’t gotten to that part yet, or its not here” he replied. “I’ll keep looking though” he said before leaving Everyone was in shock after all of that information and looking at Amara with fear. Things didn’t look good. "We cant just sit here", I roared standing up and pacing. "We need to find this Cern guy, we need to help her!" I shouted everyone was staring at me with pity. "Does this mean Mara's going to die?" came Nico's tiny voice. I stopped pacing and looked at him. I almost forgot he was hear because he was so small and quiet. Mother started stroking his hair trying to comfort him and hold back her tears but failed. Sarah and Sally looked at each other helplessly and father was stoic still just standing in the corner of the room watching Amara. Lucille came forward and kneeled in front Nico, she grabbed his hands and looked in his eyes. "Do you want the truth?" she asked him his eyes went wide looking at mother for a moment before looking back at Lucille. He nodded "Yes" Lucille smiled at him "It doesn't look good for her right now. We don't know when her birthday was, so we don't know how long her powers have been growing and hurting her body on the inside. And because she's human, she cant heal herself from the damage they have caused her" Nico started tearing up, trying to hold back the tears, trying to be strong as he's told his big sister, his favorite sister, will probably die. Mother hugged him and they hugged and cried together. Getting angrier by the second I slammed Amara’s bedroom door open so hard it broke the plaster on the wall and stormed off down the stairs. I needed to let off some steam.
