Episode 2 (Starting again)

Soooo - Jill was it ??  The boss looked her up and down as if he could see right through her lie, 

I guess you'd better come out back and fill in an application then, follow me .

With that he turned away and went back through the door which led to wherever he'd come from leaving Penelope to follow in his wake, trouble was the counter seemed to go around both sides with no way in, thank goodness Candy seeing her dilemma came to the rescue by lifting up a portion of the top and showing her a door underneath which pushed open once she had unlocked it ..

'Um thank you very much Candy' she said as she hurried to catch up dragging her suitcase in her wake

'Oh Hey you can leave that here if you like' Candy called after her 

Penelope gratefully dropped the case and carried on down the corridor behind the door to the back

 Max called out to her just before she passed right by the door half way down, "In here"

'Now I would like you to fill in this form and do you have any references ??' Max asked

Damn, References, she hadn't thought of that when she had made her escape ... 'Um no sorry I forgot to bring them with me and only arrived in the country this morning' ..

Max scrutinized her once again before saying "Ok well just fill in the form and we can see how you go and maybe get those later"

Full name and address were the first things on the form which made Penelope stop and stutter, I um don't have an address yet' Damn why hadn't she thought to find somewhere to stay before applying for the job, 'Ok well just fill in the rest and we can find you somewhere, there are a couple of places in town that do a good B&B that might suit, plus on of our regulars just mentioned the other day that she was thinking of renting out a room, she has strict rules mind, no partying, no drugs, and no men in your room' That last was said with a wink.

Now back to the form .. First name, well that was easy she had already given him her false name as Jill, but now she needed a surname, she looked around her trying to word that might suit, there was a lot of black in here - wait that's it she would use Black as her surname, and just hope she remembered it when anyone asked in the future.

'I really don't have a lot of information for this' form she stated, 'being new in town' ... in reality she had just caught the first bus she saw and rode it as far as it went trying to get as far away as possible from any pursuing party

'Ok fair enough', Max said though he was still giving her that look,' I need someone to start right away so will forgo the formalities until a later date and get you settled in, maybe you could start tonight if that's not too soon ?"
