Since they couldn't keep their hands off each other, why not let the entire world see exactly how deep their twisted love really ran?
Inside the room, just as the atmosphere was reaching a boiling point, Lucas suddenly shoved Hazel away. A flash of internal struggle crossed his face.
"Enough, Hazel. We shouldn't be doing this. I've told you a million times, Bea is the only one I love. There is no future for us. Stop hurting her, and stop hurting yourself over and over again."
Hazel sat there with her clothes in disarray, her lips swollen and flushed. She tightly gripped Lucas's hand, staring up at him with stubborn obsession.
"You're lying! If you don't love me, why can't you stop yourself from touching me? Why do you constantly abandon Beatriz the second I call? Back then, when I got pissed and ran her parents down with my car, you were the one who immediately covered up the truth for me. You're the one who tricked her into signing that liability waiver!"
Lucas's pupils contracted with sudden panic, and he immediately hissed in a low growl, "Enough! I told you to forget about that and never bring it up again! Bea can absolutely never find out what you did!"
Hazel pouted, looking completely unfazed. "So what if she finds out? Her parents are dead and buried. What can she possibly do to me?"
Standing outside, Beatriz stared through the glass in absolute disbelief, her mind violently spinning.
The car accident was Hazel's doing?
Three years ago, her parents had been rushing to her wedding venue when a speeding sports car slammed into them halfway there. The impact caused their car to lose control, sending it crashing into a massive semi-truck. Her parents died on impact.
Unable to handle the sudden trauma, Beatriz had fallen severely ill, spending weeks in a daze. Lucas had stayed glued to her side the entire time, promising he would hunt down the driver, bring them to justice, and get her parents the vengeance they deserved.
Because she missed them so much, he had personally compiled all their old family photos into a beautiful album to keep by her bed so she could look at them whenever she wanted.
When she was too heartbroken to eat or drink, he had patiently fed her spoonful after spoonful, begging her to take just one more bite.
Even the custom bracelet on her wrist had been hand-carved and polished by Lucas himself, engraved with her parents' names so she would feel like they were always with her.
The day he gave it to her, she had seen the raw, bloody cuts on his hands from crafting it. Moved to tears, she had thrown herself into his arms, finally finding the strength to slowly move on.
She had honestly believed it was just a tragic accident. She had no idea it was Hazel's deliberate, psychotic revenge.
Because she had been so incredibly grateful for Lucas's unwavering support, she had spent the last three years tolerating Hazel's outrageous, abusive behavior over and over again.
But it was all a lie.
He hadn't been hunting for the killer. He was the accomplice covering the killer's tracks.
Back then, while she was heavily medicated and grieving, the paperwork he had urged her to sign wasn't a criminal complaint against the driver. It was a formal letter of forgiveness, legally shielding Hazel from prison.
Beatriz's rage boiled over, and she slammed the hospital door open.
"Hazel!"
Her voice tore from her throat like a primal, blood-soaked shriek, startling the two inside. Lucas's face went completely pale, and he instantly dropped his hands from Hazel.
"Bea..."
Beatriz completely tuned him out. Completely ignoring the blinding agony in her broken legs, she threw her body forward, lunging straight onto the bed and clamping both hands violently around Hazel's throat.
Her eyes were completely bloodshot, filled with nothing but pure, murderous hatred.
"Hazel, go to hell! I want you to pay for my parents' lives with your own!"
She channeled every ounce of strength she possessed into her grip. Hazel was choked so brutally she could barely gasp for air, her hands clawing wildly as she choked out a plea for help.
"Save... save me..."
Lucas rushed over, grabbing Beatriz's hands to pry them loose. "Bea, please calm down and let me explain! This is all a misunderstanding, it's not what you think! Let go of her, right now!"
Beatriz ignored him, locking her fingers tighter around her target, completely possessed by the urge to strangle the monster who took her family. "I want her dead!"
She was so utterly unyielding that Lucas couldn't break her grip. Hazel lay pinned beneath her, her eyes rolling back into her head as she suffocated.
Suddenly, a loud c***k echoed through the room.
Lucas had grabbed a heavy glass IV bottle and shattered it right over Beatriz's head.
Beatriz's vision wavered instantly. Warm blood splattered down her forehead, blurring her sight. She turned her head slowly, staring at Lucas in a daze of sheer betrayal.
Taking advantage of her weakness, Lucas violently shoved her off the bed and threw his body over Hazel.
"Hazel!"
Beatriz collapsed hard onto the floor. Refusing to give up, she dragged her broken body across the tiles, still trying to crawl back toward Hazel. She wanted revenge. She had to avenge her parents.
But Lucas didn't even look back at her. He scooped Hazel up into his arms and bolted for the exit, his face twisted in pure terror for his sister's life.
As he rushed past Beatriz's crumpled form, he didn't even notice his heavy boot stomping directly over her fingers, crushing them against the floor.
Beatriz trembled violently from the sheer physical pain, burying her tear-stained face in her hands as she watched his retreating back disappear down the hall.
"Lucas! I will never forgive you for this! Never!"
She was filled with such consuming, suffocating hatred. She hated herself for being so completely blind, for trusting the wrong man. She hated that her own partner, the man she slept next to every night, was the very monster who helped cover up her parents' murders while she lived in total ignorance.
The physical trauma wracking her body was nothing compared to the agonizing, heartbreaking despair ripping through her soul. She slammed her fists against the cold floor, sobbing hysterically.
"Mom! Dad!"
Suddenly, the phone that had dropped onto the floor beside her buzzed. The screen lit up with a notification from the immigration portal: her permanent overseas residency application had just been officially approved.
Beatriz clutched the phone tightly, a cold flash of venom replacing the tears in her eyes. She knew that in her current, broken state, trying to fight them head-on was a losing battle. If she stayed, she might very well end up dead at Hazel's hands before she ever got justice.
Forcing herself to endure the agony, she immediately had her caregiver pack her things and booked a private medical flight out of the country.
The exact moment the plane taxied onto the runway and took off, a text message from Lucas popped up on her screen.
Lucas: Bea, I'm sorry I had to hurt you today, but it was an emergency. You were completely out of control, and I couldn't just stand there and let you murder Hazel. I'm taking her to get medical attention first. I'll explain everything about your parents the second I get back.
Explain?
Beatriz read the text with a dead, expressionless face, a mocking smirk curling her lips. Without a single moment of hesitation, she blocked his number and wiped his contact information completely from her phone.
Immediately after, she uploaded the video she had recorded directly onto every major public social media platform, adding a burning caption:
Lucas, Hazel, You murdered my parents. Blood for blood.
She lowered her gaze, watching the sprawling city skyline shrink into tiny specks as the plane climbed higher into the clouds. Slowly, she clenched her fists. Her manicured nails dug so deeply into her palms that blood began to ooze between her fingers, but she didn't feel a single thing.
'Lucas, the next time we meet, I'm going to make sure you and Hazel are already burning in hell.'
