After I watched her for a bit I began doing it myself, moving my body in different ways I never thought that I could. I always wanted to be a dancer in a way, I admired people that could dance but never thought I could do it myself. As I did the dance moves that Sabrina instructed me to do I let my mind slip away and felt like I was the only person in the room. Just me and the pole. When I finally stopped, I looked around me to see that everyone was staring at me with shocked expressions. “Did I do something wrong?” I asked them, with my back pressed up against the pole.
Everyone clapped their hands and Sabrina said, “Are you sure you’ve never danced before?”
Now I was surprised at everyone's applause, what had I done to deserve that? “Yes. It’s my first time. I’ve always been interested in dance and admired people that could, but never really saw myself doing it. Why?” I asked her.
Sabrina walked up beside me and said, “You just danced like you’ve been dancing all your life. That was the most incredible dancing I've ever seen. It doesn’t even seem like you’ll need till the weekend to be ready because you’ve already mastered it.”
I was shocked, I couldn’t believe it. Could I really be that good? I walk over to a mat on the floor and start doing flips.
“I’ll be right back girls, don’t run off anywhere,” Sabrina told us then walked out of the room.
Rose walked over to me and sat on the mat beside me. “How did you do that? It was crazy amazing,” she said to me.
I stopped what I was doing and sat down beside her. She had wavy red hair with fine skin, her figure was petite like my own and her eyes were almond shaped and green with bits of brown in them. “I’ve been doing gymnastics since I was little,” I told her.
Rose smirked at me and said, “That’s not what I was talking about. I’ve been here for a week and can’t dance to the level that you can.”
“Oh. Well, I just focused on doing the moves and drowned out everything around me till it was just me and the pole. Having a gymnastic background might’ve helped,” I told her.
Dalia comes running into the room and stares down at me and Rose on the mat. “Sabrina told me what you did Annabelle. I want to see. Show me now,” she demanded.
I stood up from the mat and walked over to the pole. I closed my eyes and began to move, closing out all sound and noise till it was only me in the room. I felt my body moving in all kinds of different ways, to wrap around the pole, moving fast and seductively, ended with my back up against the pole sliding down. I then opened my eyes to she Dalia smiling widely.
“Amazing, just amazing. I knew you were my star, Annabelle. You keep practicing till you can do it with your eyes opened and then I’ll put you on the stage and you’ll have more freedom,” Dalia tells me happily. Then she walks out of the room and heads back to wherever she came from.
Sabrina looked to me and the other girls and said, “Get back to practicing. And Annabelle, make sure to do it with your eyes opened.”
I nodded and said, “okay, I’ll try.” I turn away from everyone and look at myself in the mirror that was along the wall.
Everyone else goes to the other side of the room and continues practicing their dance moves.
I could see everyone in the mirror doing their own thing. I just wanted to get out of here and find my siblings. But if doing shows is the only way to get there, that is what I’ll do. With my new mindset I pull myself off the floor and watch myself in the mirror as I begin my movements. Doing everything the way I had done it before, looking around from time to time, up and down forward and over, moving my body and my arms and legs, slowly and quickly in a sensual way. I twisted my body around the pole swirling and whirling. I then let go and walk away beginning another dance slowly moving towards the mirror then draw myself back going down to the floor.
Sabrina walks over to me and holds out her hand to help me up. “That was the best you’ve done so far Annabelle. Great job. I think you can take a break now,” she tells me, pulling me up from the ground.
“Where do I go from here?” I asked her, not knowing the answer. This is all new to me. As amazing as all of this might be, I’ll always remember I was forced into it and that this is all a means to survive.
“I’ll let Dalia know that you’re ready and then she’ll take you to your room, you can relax for a bit then she’ll come back and get you to do your first show,” Sabrina tells me happily. “With that said, I’ll be back.” She then runs out of the room.
I lean up against the wall and think about Molly and Julian. I’m glad they didn’t get found by these people and I hope that they found help.
Dalia comes back into the room with Sabrina and says, “Amazing Annabelle, to think that you did all this in less than 2 hours. You must be tired out. I’ll take you to a room where you can relax and get a little something to eat. Then in an hour or so I will come for you and take you to the show room. Okay?”
I walk over to Dalia and say, “Okay Madam, lead the way and I shall follow.”
Dalia smirks and says, “I like you Annabelle, come. We shall go.” She waves goodbye to everyone and takes my hand, leading me to an elevator.
Once inside the elevator we go up to the 3rd floor. The elevator stops and we get off. She leads me down the hallway and stops at door 32. “This is where you will stay. Once you prove that you can be a good girl, I will allow you to leave the room and go about anywhere you wish to go as long as you’re back by the time I tell you to,” Dalia tells me, matter of factly.
“Thank you, Madam, I understand. I will be on my best behaviour,” I tell her as I walk past her and enter the room.
“Glad to hear it. Someone will be by shortly to bring you something light to eat then I'll be by to take you to the club to do your first show,” Dalia tells me. She then closes and locks the door.
I walk over to a bed in the corner of the room and sit down, pulling my knees up to my chest and rest my head on my knees. Suddenly a vision comes to me. I see a man, tall, possibly 6 feet, well built, as if he works out a lot, he’s slightly tan and has short straight light brown hair. He stares at me like he's found a lost love that he never thought he’d see again. His eyes are upturned and dark blue like the night sky. He has a diamond shaped face and a slight chin dimple. “I want to help you. I will help you,” he says. Then the vision fades away. Who is this man? And why does he look at me like that? I lay down on the bed and close my eyes. Let me dream of my lost family and freedom.
