On paper, and in any other record that existed anywhere in Ashrone, or beyond, Charles Verst was Tyler Varsen’s estranged uncle, who had found the young man after years of searching. It easily explained why Tyler, a commoner, had a wealthy relative, and why, if anyone bothered to look, he also had access to some funds and amenities that should normally be outside his financial bracket. On his drive, he made a few calls and gave a few instructions, then he rode in silence, fighting off the feeling of satisfaction that had filled his chest since earlier that night.
