“Anika and her mother are doing alright. Rijan’s family are doing good, too.” I couldn’t help but smile after receiving the reports. Anika’s mother has remained in good health ever since. This is definitely good news amongst the many problems that we had.
I put down the papers I was holding and looked at my hands. The mark on my wrist had already faded, and I never saw random strangers lurking in the house again, either. I promised Amos that if I did, I would run in the opposite direction as I should, even if the person looked harmless.
“I really should have learned the first time. This is definitely on you, Clarity.” I mumbled a scolding to myself. I definitely do not want to see Amos crying again. It breaks my heart just to remember it.
