Angela’s POV
“I’m home,” I said.
“I’ve called you dozens of times,” Beth snapped on the other end of the line, her voice fast and sharp. “Do you even realize what situation we’re in right now?”
I closed my eyes and rubbed my temples. “I needed time, Beth. Just a little space to breathe.”
“Breathe? This is not the time for that, Angela.” Her tone turned serious. “We’re in a crisis. A crisis that could destroy you.”
I took a deep breath. Stayed quiet. I didn’t know what to say.
“The movie’s only been out for three days. And instead of headlines about your performance, all anyone’s talking about is that stupid photo. This scandal is dragging all our hard work straight into the gutter.”
