The moment I got into the car, I locked the doors. Only then did I finally let out the breath I’d been holding. My hands were shaking as I started the engine.
The drive home felt longer than usual. Every red light made my chest tighten. Every car that slowed down beside me sent my heart jumping. I was afraid Ian was following me. His voice kept echoing in my head.
