The walk back to our dirt dungeon was quiet. My body felt numb as I stumbled through the long corridors. The guards walking behind me continuously nudged their rifles into my spine, but the action didn’t even cause me to flinch. I simply couldn’t feel a thing. My skilled disassociation was far better than I expected, allowing me to feel nothing at all. Even the collar that remained strapped around my neck didn’t feel as if it were suffocating me, despite the cold, metal material rubbing my skin raw.
