The bell rang, after class, loud and annoying, and everyone bolted out of the classroom like it was on fire.
Daniel was still not speaking to me, and Reggie?

Backpacks zipped up, chairs scraping the floor, and laughs bouncing off the walls. But not me, I just sat there, all nervous and fidgety.
Wanted to go over to where Daniel was, but what would I say if I did? “Sorry, I made us go to the clearing… sorry it’s my fault that you and Reggie aren’t talking.”
Daniel stuffed his books into his backpack, and I watched him leave the classroom without even noticing me.
