Chapter 10

1017 Words
Daniel The woods was dark but I could see Jacob’s eyes grow bigger when we heard someone coming. His whole body stiffened beside me. He couldn’t move. His hand was still in my pants, shaking and I knew if I didn’t drag him out of there as soon as possible, we would get caught and that would not end well for either of us. Especially for him. We both had a lot to lose of course, but it would be easier for me to start over. It wasn’t the same for him. I might be the prince of the school, but there are limits to what I’m allowed too. Like going outside the school premises, especially at night and without permission. The teachers let me do whatever I wanted in the house. The other staff too but if they ever saw me here, in the woods with Jake, that would mean an endless yelling from my parents, or worst of all, I could go back to being home schooled. Huh! That was my worst nightmare. Ever. Being dragged back into the Cobbs manor. That would mean zero freedom, no friends, and no Jacob. The thought of that bothered me more than it should have. “We gotta go hide,” I said, pulling his hand out and dragging him behind me. The plan was to find a big tree and hide behind it until they were gone. “There, I think that’s a shortcut back to school,” Jacob said happily, pointing at the narrow road. We both scurried away and towards the road. We got back to the dorm in a matter of minutes. “What the f**k just happened?” Daniel asked, and we both burst out laughing. “You’re too loud, golden boy. You could wake the entire school.” “Sorry. Sorry,” he said, covering his mouth but I could still see the amusement in his eyes. “Come sleep at my room tonight.” The request was to random. I’ve heard from the other students that ‘the’ Daniel Cobbs doesn’t let anyone sleep in his room, no matter how close they are to him. They’d gone ahead to say they’d host a party the day he ever allows someone to sleep in his room and here he was, asking me, Jacob Hale, an irrelevant charity case to come spend the night in his room. Just how far was he willing to go to humiliate and embarrass me? I knew he was joking and only trying to get a reaction from me but I wasn’t going to give him that satisfaction. Tonight might have been a little different, but that doesn’t change the fact that Daniel was a cruel, condescending, controlling bastard. And now he was just going too far. For all I knew, he could be the one that spread the rumors about us… me, because all everyone talked about was the charity case kid who didn’t know his place. “Who the hell does he think he is? How dare he throw himself at Danny?” They’d said and so many other horrible things, but not a single bad word was said about him. And now he was trying to get me to say yes to this ridiculous request, so he could start up another rumor and have the whole school laugh at the “idiotic stupid kid.” I wanted to tell him no when he suddenly leaned in and kissed me. “It’s okay, pretty boy. You don’t have to follow me if you don’t want to. I’ll just see you in class tomorrow.” What? What the hell just happened? Was Daniel Cobbs being a reasonable human being right now, or was I dreaming this? He squeezed my shoulder lightly and mouthed the words “Night pretty boy” in my ears before leaving. I stood there for what felt like hours but could be minutes. It was hard to believe what had just happened. Daniel was commanding and he always, somehow got his way. I’d expected him to drag me to his room, even if I was kicking and screaming. I was right. knew I was right. He didn’t want me in his room, he just wanted to get a reaction from me, for his own sick satisfaction and I was glad he didn’t get any. The walk to my room was quiet. Tried as much as possible to keep my shoes from scraping on the marble floor. Got to my room and threw myself on the bed. “I’ll see you in class tomorrow”. The word was stuck in my head. What did he mean by that? Was he going to start talking to me, taunting me, bullying me or was he going to go ahead and keep ignoring me, like he’d done the past few days? Tried not to think too much about that. Tomorrow would take care of itself. Closed my eyes, trying to force myself to sleep when the thought of what happened in the wood engulfed me. I was this close to getting that c**k in my mouth, but some nosy fuckers had ruined everything. It was as if anytime we got close, someone somewhere just decided to go on Jacob and Danny’s hunting, and boom, they ruined it. Tonight it was that nosy cousin of mine. I didn’t see the face but I knew. His voice, the way he would laugh and snort whenever he did. Kenny must have followed me into the woods after he saw me leave, but why tho? I would say he wanted Danny for himself if i didn’t know better, but Kenny wasn’t gay. My eyelids were finally closing, and sleeping was just around the corner when someone threw a rock through my open window. Jumped up from the bed at the sound of it. What was this again? Kenny? Daniel? Or that creepy motherfucker that watches me sleep. Picked up the stone, unwrapping the paper around it. It read, “Daniel isn’t gonna take you from me. Not this time.”
